Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4 (Culling Game) PV: Japanese Fans React — "Sorry, Yuji, but I LOVE the face you make when you despair"

“Sorry, Yuji, but I genuinely LOVE the face you make when you despair.”
The Season 4 PV for Jujutsu Kaisen — MAPPA's adaptation of the Culling Game (死滅回游) arc — dropped, and the top Japanese reactions zeroed in on the fight the fandom has been waiting years for: Hakari vs Kashimo. The most-liked comment is a manga reader cheerfully admitting he can't wait for the suffering to start ("the Yuji-torture accelerates from here"), and that gallows-humor anticipation set the tone for the whole thread. The recurring themes were pure hype: relief that Hakari's broken Domain "wasn't nerfed," fan theories about the color of his cursed energy shifting as his odds climb, awe at MAPPA's insane workload (they're making Chainsaw Man at the same time — and once juggled this AND Attack on Titan), and surprisingly sharp art-direction takes contrasting Part 1's deliberately grimy look with this PV's brighter, cleaner color. And at the very end, the PV flashes the 契闊 ("Keikatsu") scene one more time — a quiet gut-punch that manga readers immediately clocked as MAPPA twisting the knife.

Anime-only here, but yeah… Megumi really does start swaying (yura-yura) at the drop of a hat, huh…

It's more that the situations force him into it… he's just got a chronic swaying habit at this point…

Trust me, he literally can't win without doing it…

From here on the kid-torture absolutely accelerates, so I genuinely can't wait.
A protagonist who keeps trying to push forward even while suffering is the best… Yuji from around this point on is what I'm most hyped for.

Can't wait to watch the Tiger of West Middle School — a confessed killer — get put through the wringer all over again.

I want the color of Hakari's cursed energy to shift along with his odds.

Green → red → gold → rainbow.

The color of Hakari's cursed energy is so absurdly flashy it's god-tier.

MAPPA is making Chainsaw Man AND Jujutsu Kaisen at the same time — their workload is insane.

The wild part is they once did Attack on Titan WHILE juggling these two.

- @yamamoto2222👍 13
They were making the Zombie Land Saga movie too, mind you.
- @youtubebamo👍 7
They were also making Tonsuki, Ranma, Bucchigiri, Hell's Paradise, Lazarus, Zenshu, Rose of Versailles, and Inazuma Eleven around the same period. MAPPA has 10+ production teams so they could cover it, but it must have been brutal back then.
First thing I have to say is the visuals are gorgeous. Part 1 deliberately roughed up the linework, so it felt murky and grimy, but this time the art is clean and the color palette is much brighter — it was genuinely easy on the eyes.
- @KuM-b1s👍 97
Did you get a little faster?! Naoya!!
Flashing the "Keikatsu" (契闊) scene one more time at the very end of the PV just to deal psychic damage to us manga readers — classic MAPPA.
- @konayuki-CEHC👍 120
What I'm honestly most curious about is the song "Achira wo Tatereba." With lyrics like "your back hair's pretty thick, huh (papaya-paya)," I can't wait to hear what kind of track it turns into.

I'd be thrilled if they played "Achira wo Tatereba" in full.

Apparently more new info drops at Jujutsu Fest at the end of August, so let's keep our hopes up.

So it ends on the line "I'll win." — that kind of vibe, huh.

📺 AnimeAnimeYouTubeBleach: Japanese Fans Debate Who Should Raise Ichigo's Son — "The Safest Pick Being Grimmjow Is Insane"
On Bleach, Japanese fans got stuck on a hypothetical they couldn't drop: if you HAD to hand Ichigo Kurosaki's son Kazui over to a Soul Society or Hueco Mundo figure to raise, who's the safest choice — and who's the most dangerous? The top-liked answer set the tone: the single safest guardian in the entire roster is somehow Grimmjow, a verdict the whole thread agreed was unhinged. The recurring logic was that the scary geniuses are the problem — Aizen would "grow the kid the fastest" but would gleefully drag him along to conquer the Soul King's palace, and Urahara is just too unfathomable to trust — whereas Grimmjow is a rough-but-good-hearted delinquent big-brother who'd let Kazui cut loose in the Hueco Mundo desert. From there it branched into casting different mentors for each discipline (Kido to Aizen, Hakuda to Yoruichi, Flash Step to Byakuya), Ichigo himself crying "why am I not even a candidate?!" and getting roasted, and Don Kanonji floated as the one pick with actual ethics. The punchline everyone kept circling back to: every adult in this manga would be way too excited to teach this child.

📺 AnimeAnimeYouTubeBleach: Could Ichigo's Son Kazui Become the New Soul King? Japanese Fans React — "He Doesn't Read Like the Next Hero. He Reads Like the Next Villain."
A Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War advance-screening bonus put Ichigo and Orihime's son, Kazui Kurosaki, in the spotlight — and instead of cooing over the next-gen hero, Japanese fans spun it into one of the densest pieces of Bleach speculation in years: could Kazui become a new Soul King? The single most-liked reaction set the tone with an eerie read English fans rarely hear — unlike Boruto, this kid doesn't carry the aura of a sequel hero, he carries the aura of a sequel villain. From there the thread became a lore deep-dive only Japanese fans could give: Kazui inherits ALL of Ichigo's hybrid factors (Human, Soul Reaper, Quincy, Hollow, Fullbring) layered on top of god-tier-Fullbring Orihime, he erased Yhwach's remnants in the final chapter, and the recurring theme was that a kid built like that is basically Soul-King-grade by default. Fans ran with the isekai-light-novel joke ("On the Soul King Reincarnating With Even Greater Talent Than His Past Life"), the JoJo "it suits me perfectly" meme, and a loud "bring the serialization back — honestly only Bleach can save Jump right now" chorus. Then one sharp-eyed reader landed the detail that reframed everything: Kazui has the Soul King's FOUR eyes, not Ichigo's five.

📺 AnimeAnimeYouTubeWhy Kaiju No. 8 Never Caught Fire in Japan: Japanese Fans React — "They Made a Mediocre Story... Mediocre."
Kaiju No. 8 was one of the biggest manga launches of its era — 14 million copies in print, a glossy Production I.G anime, an OP by an internationally famous band. So Western fans are often surprised to learn it left a lot of Japanese readers cold. This reaction thread, built around a Japanese fan-critic's video literally titled "Why didn't the Kaiju No. 8 anime catch on," is one of the bluntest looks you'll find at that homegrown disappointment. The recurring themes: that the genuinely great opening hook — a middle-aged ex-kaiju-cleanup worker using his cleanup know-how to fight monsters — got quietly abandoned the moment Kafka joined the Defense Force; that these "kaiju" feel less like Godzilla and more like talking, human-sized people in monster suits; that the much-memed "left elbow, right elbow" copy-paste panel became a punchline; and that fans kept name-dropping a different manga, Rai Rai Rai, as "the Kaiju No. 8 we actually wanted." The most quietly devastating line in the whole thread isn't even an insult — it's a correction to the video's own title.

📺 AnimeAnimeYouTubeWhy Did Levi Survive Attack on Titan? Japanese Fans React — "He Wasn't Lucky. The Brigade Is Worth One Levi."
Levi Ackerman walking out of Attack on Titan alive is one of the manga's quietest miracles — a fan-favorite everyone was bracing to lose, who somehow made it to the final page. A Japanese reaction clip revisiting his survival blew up, and the most-liked Japanese comments turn it into the debate the West never quite settles in English: was it luck, or was it the point? The thread opens on the franchise's most-quoted scrap of dialogue — "Levi is worth an entire brigade" — and the running joke that the truer reading is the reverse: this brigade is worth one Levi. From there the recurring themes were two: the very Japanese reading-experience of following the series purely terrified of when Levi would finally die ("the story took a back seat"), and a serious, citation-heavy fan theory that his survival was never luck at all — that an awakened Ackerman senses lethal danger through the Paths, the way only he and Mikasa flinched at Zeke's rockslide from inside the airship. The luck-camp pushes back, the theory-camp digs in, and somewhere in the middle someone just says he's too short to hit. It lands on the only conclusion the comment section could reach about a 160cm man who dodges everything.
