Kagurabachi Ch.124: Japanese fans on Shiba stealing the show and the betrayal — "called it, I knew this guy was a traitor"
“Yep, knew this guy was a traitor. I called it.”
On Kagurabachi Chapter 124, Japanese readers agreed Shiba completely runs away with the flashback arc and the betrayal finally drops. The thread praised how the pace jumps the moment Shiba appears, swooned over his "I'll take responsibility" line, joked about him casually one-handing a 40kg crate, and weighed up Hiroto, Hayami, and the Sushi Chef. By the end someone is already smug that they saw the traitor coming.

Honestly, looking at Kagurabachi as a whole, the pace suddenly picks up the second Shiba shows up. The man is just efficient.
He can skip travel and whole scene cuts, so the story literally moves faster just because Shiba is there.
"I'll take the responsibility" is way too cool. I'm in love, what is this.
The way he says it is so slick. Everything about it is just too good.
- @unmo_62👍 28
Personally I cracked up at Shiba casually one-handing a thing that, container included, probably weighs around 40kg. By real-world standards that's absurd strength.
Maybe he's using sorcery to make it lighter? Could also just be raw monster strength though lol
Forgot it was just a bomb lol. So he's basically a Machamp then.
The cyclops Sushi Chef is a reasonable dude too.
I love the Sushi Chef's "this is garbage."
Kagurabachi has a lot of great character contrasts: people who get it and put conviction over reality, versus people who get it but put reality over conviction.

I don't think present-day Kannabi is corrupt, it feels more like a difference in approach to achieving peace.
- @Kdnwthadw👍 19
Flashback-arc Kannabi brass: "Nothing we can do against Shiba, and honestly we get where he's coming from, let's just leave him be."
That sideburns guy from Kannabi called Kunishige arrogant in the present, but a guy who could only stall by relying on sacrifices has no business badmouthing the man who forged the weapons of the heroes who saved the nation.
Hayami, Hiroto, the flashback arc has so many good characters. Giyu, you on the other hand are a no.
Readers are on Kunishige's side so we just don't like it, but it's the safe play, can't really blame him. That said, still don't like him.
I really wanted to see more of Hiroto in action.
Can't wait for the day someone beats the upper brass to a pulp.
Random thought, but Chihiro might not be Kunishige's kid, he could be Mikaboshi's.
Then the whole "eyes inherited from his father" thing falls apart, and Urushiba sensing Rokuhira in Chihiro's eyes would look dumb.
Sparing him just because he's a useful messenger was the enemy's biggest blunder. With an ability like his you have to take him out first no matter what. They figured he couldn't do anything, then he starts building some insane stuff, lol.

The last page of the chapter, with Hasumi taking five panels just to look shocked, slowly got funnier and funnier.

📖 MangaMangaYouTubeKagurabachi Goes on Long Hiatus: Japanese Fans React — "Please Don't Let Them Crush You… Rest Well."
Kagurabachi, one of Weekly Shonen Jump's biggest current hits, just announced a long hiatus — and the top Japanese reactions weren't "noooo, my manga." The very first instinct was protective: "Please don't let them crush you," "take your time," "rest as long as you need." From there the thread turned into something English fans rarely see — an unusually literate discussion of weekly serialization as a brutal labor system. The recurring themes: roll calls of authors who burned out before (Hunter x Hunter, World Trigger, Jujutsu Kaisen's rushed late hiatuses), detailed proposals to shift Jump to a biweekly schedule, anger that a weekly author was sent on an overseas trip at all, and — strikingly — praise for the editor who FORCED the rest as "finally doing their actual job." Underneath it all, the bittersweet timing (a hiatus right as the anime hype builds) and one wry, very Japanese verdict on weekly serialization as Osamu Tezuka's lasting curse.

📖 MangaMangaYouTubeDandadan Ch.238: Japanese fans say Aira Shiratori just had the best growth arc in the cast
On Dandadan Chapter 238 'Okarun's Resolve', Japanese readers rallied around Aira Shiratori, calling her the character who has grown the most. They traced her arc from bullying Momo to coming back changed, compared her heartbreak-with-dignity to Ai Haibara from Detective Conan, and split over shipping her with Jiji. Mixed in: total confusion over who the new villains even are, relief that Hase is still alive, and a plea for a relationship chart.

📖 MangaMangaYouTubeOne Punch Man: Japanese Fans React to a Critic Calling Murata's Art "Impossible to Follow" — "Question Your Own Eyes"
On One Punch Man, Japanese fans pile onto a critic who said Yusuke Murata drew "3 pages you can't understand," and most of them defend the art hard. The thread splits between people roasting the take ("if you can't read this, question your own eyes"), people calling out the video as outrage-farming that cherry-picks a handful of haters, and a smaller camp who say the panels are fine art but maybe a flat layout. Someone even claims a person this confused would call Dragon Ball hard to follow too — before the last word lands.

📖 MangaMangaYouTubeOne Piece's Art Style Over 27 Years: Japanese Fans React — "Of Course It Changed, You've Been Serializing It Since I Was a Baby"
On One Piece, a Japanese fan thread broke down how Eiichiro Oda's art has shifted across the manga's ~27-year run — early vs mid vs late era — and it turned into an affectionate, nostalgic argument rather than a complaint session. The recurring theme: most of the top comments crowned the mid era (the Water Seven / Enies Lobby look) as peak Oda — thinner lines, the best-balanced faces, the coolest Zoro, Sanji and Luffy designs — while a big camp went to bat for the clean, readable early art and the original Nami and Zoro. The most-liked observation reframed the whole debate with a shrug: he's been drawing this since his readers were literal babies, so of course the style moved. Running underneath it all was the thread's killer gag — that as Oda's drawing skill went UP, Nami's and Nico Robin's apparent "mental age" went DOWN — and a fond roast of how a young Nami once stared down Arlong solo, where today she "just screams." A small minority found the current Elbaf-era art rougher, but the thread landed somewhere warm: the guy was already a monster artist at 22, and most fans just love whichever era they grew up reading.
