Bleach TYBW Episode 42: Why Can Nelliel Stand There? — Japan's Urahara-Grimmjow Theory

Bleach TYBW Episode 42 left Japanese fans with two open questions even after Urahara Kisuke's bankai finally got revealed on screen: how is Nelliel able to stand where she's standing, and what did Urahara actually get Grimmjow to agree to in exchange for his help. A reaction-compilation channel turned those loose threads into their own clip, and 140 comments in, the top one (344 likes) is just someone demanding an explanation for the Nelliel question — the reply that actually answers it, crediting her design to an antelope, pulled 286 likes on its own. The Grimmjow theory gets messier: the leading guess ties the deal to Urahara healing him after the Askin fight, but a reply pushes the timeline back to Hueco Mundo instead — and by the end, a chunk of the comments admit they'd rather Urahara stay unexplained.

A reaction-compilation channel called Rukia-taichou no Hannoushuu built a whole clip out of the questions Bleach TYBW's Urahara Kisuke bankai-reveal episode left hanging — not the reveal itself, but everything about him that still doesn't add up. The video pulled in 140 comments, and two threads dominate: how Nelliel is able to stand where she's standing, and what Urahara actually traded Grimmjow for his help.

Somebody explain how Nelliel is even able to stand there.

That's the top comment on the whole video — 344 likes, and it's just someone begging for an explanation. The reply underneath actually delivers one.

Because her design is based on an antelope.

@海亀801 — ohh, that tracks.

Not everyone's satisfied with the tidy answer, though. One reply goes for the joke version instead.

Theory: she's supposedly using solidified reiryoku as footing, but actually she's just clinging on with grip strength.

And the animal debate didn't even settle there — a few comments down, someone floats a completely different guess, and gets corrected with actual receipts.

  • Isn't it because she's a goat? You know, the kind that can stand on cliffs.👍11
  • Her resurrección is literally called "Antelope Knight," so I'm pretty sure the motif is an antelope, not a goat…👍1

From Nelliel's footwork, the thread jumps to the other Urahara mystery everyone's still chewing on: what exactly he got Grimmjow to agree to, and when he even got the chance to ask. The leading theory ties the whole thing back to the fight with Askin.

When he saved Grimmjow from Askin's ability, he probably said something like "I saved you, so you owe me one."

I was watching and thinking the same thing — when Askin asked "can you even move?", Grimmjow basically said "yeah, someone patched me up."

But not everyone's buying the timeline. One reply pushes back with a pretty specific counterpoint.

Nah, the deal itself goes back to when they were both still in Hueco Mundo, so that's not it.

Somewhere in between, a comment about the shape of the deal — whatever it turns out to be — ends up being the one that resonates most.

Even if the deal is a rematch with Ichigo, I love that Ichigo himself clearly has zero idea any of this is going on.

By the end, a chunk of the comment section basically admits it doesn't want every mystery solved. It's not really about the Nelliel thing or the Grimmjow deal specifically — it's Urahara's whole deal.

If they explained all five predictions, honestly that would kill the fun lol.

The whole point of the "five possibilities" bit is to show how insanely prepared Urahara is as a shinigami — not explaining it is the right call. Spelling it out would honestly be nonsense.

Which is how the thread lands on its actual thesis, dressed up as a compliment about the character himself.

Being "osare" means knowing exactly when to explain yourself and when not to.

So no, the video doesn't actually answer how Nelliel's standing there, and it definitely doesn't confirm what Urahara and Grimmjow shook hands on. But 140 comments deep, that's basically the point of the whole clip — Urahara staying unreadable is the bit, and Japan's comment section would clearly rather keep theorizing about him forever than ever get it spelled out for them.

FAQ

What mystery are fans debating about Nelliel in Bleach TYBW Episode 42?
Commenters were puzzling over how Nelliel is able to stand where she's standing in the clip. The top reply (286 likes) says her design is based on an antelope, though a later reply corrects a rival "goat" guess by pointing to her resurrección name, "Antelope Knight."
What deal do fans think Urahara made with Grimmjow?
The leading theory (159 likes) is that Urahara healed Grimmjow after Askin's ability nearly killed him, in exchange for future help — with one reply (116 likes) guessing the payoff is a rematch with Ichigo. Not everyone agrees on the timing: one reply (5 likes) argues the deal actually dates back to when both were still in Hueco Mundo.
What is this video actually about?
The channel Rukia-taichou no Hannoushuu built a short reaction-compilation video around lingering questions about Urahara left open by Episode 42 — not the bankai reveal itself — and collected 140 viewer comments responding to that framing.
