Mushoku Tensei Season 3 Episode 12, which aired September 13, delivers a flashback fans are calling the season's biggest reveal yet, narrated by the aging future version of Rudeus everyone calls Old Deus. A new Japanese reaction video built around the episode has pulled in 334 comments in four days. Most of the discussion centers on one performance: voice actor Tomokazu Sugita, confirmed behind Old Deus back in Episode 11, gets praised for career-best work, and several commenters argue the anime's choice to convey the character's grief through narration and expression alone — rather than showing the events directly — makes this version hit harder than the novels ever did. The most-liked reply overall (258 likes) isn't about the performance at all, though — it's a joke that the show timed this episode's diary flashback to land on Japan's Respect-for-the-Aged Day, following an earlier death that aired on Father's Day. Editor's note: nobody in the comments thinks this is as bad as it gets, either — a heavily-liked reply (219 likes) warns that the real gut-punch is still one week away.
