Blue Lock Live-Action Film Wins Over Japan, Except for One Casting Choice

Japan's live-action Blue Lock film is landing well with audiences overall, but a Japanese reaction-compilation video shows one specific casting choice taking the brunt of the criticism: the actor playing Chigiri. The video has drawn 17,141 likes and 1,287 comments, and the top comment alone — quoting the actor's own explanation that he moved "as femininely as possible" — has pulled in 6,030 likes. From there, commenters spend most of the thread arguing that Chigiri's whole appeal is the mismatch between his delicate looks and his blunt, masculine personality, not femininity layered on top of femininity. Not every casting choice gets the same treatment, though — and the thread makes a point of saying so.
