Mushoku Tensei Post-Story: Eris and Her Son Both Settle Fights by Cutting Off Arms

Across 320 comments on a Japanese video breaking down what three Mushoku Tensei characters become after the main story ends, the top comment (3,408 likes) isn't about power scaling at all — it's fans clocking that both Eris and her own son settle an argument the exact same way: casually cutting off an arm.

From there it escalates into a running bit about the entire Greyrat family being absurd. Getting into both a university and a noble swordsmanship academy is treated like basic compulsory education, one kid becomes a North Emperor as a teenager, Rudeus's children are all taught uncanted magic and blade work directly by legendary masters, and even Rudeus's own middling #7 ranking on the "Seven World Powers" list turns out to be a genuine honor once someone explains the history behind it. A side plot about Isolte gets fans debating just how strong she really is compared to Eris and Roxy.

By the end, more than one commenter has half-jokingly concluded the franchise's real final boss fight is just the entire Greyrat bloodline showing up together.

This one's a Japanese fan channel breaking down light-novel-only epilogue material — what three Mushoku Tensei characters become after the main story wraps — and 320 comments in, almost nobody's talking about power scaling. They're talking about arms. Specifically, whose gets cut off, and by whom.

Both mother and son cutting off an arm — the fact that it's such a shared family trait is hilarious.

Turns out this world does have healing magic. It just, notably, didn't work on that particular arm.

@山田太郎-t4m7k There's healing magic, sure, but Rudeus's arm never grew back even with it.

From there the thread pivots to how Eris settles the exact same kind of argument with her own son, years later, using the exact same method — and the replies aren't entirely on board with treating that as just a fun family bit.

Wait, Eris cutting off her own son's arm is pretty messed up, no?

Both the mother and the son are unhinged — just because someone in the family CAN fix missing limbs doesn't mean you casually cut people's arms off.

Once the arm jokes run their course, the thread turns into a genuine, escalating bit about how absurd the Greyrat family is as a whole, brains and brawn both. Getting into both a university and a noble swordsmanship academy is treated like basic compulsory education around here, not some rare achievement worth bragging about.

The Greyrat family isn't just monstrous in combat — they treat getting into both a university and a noble academy like it's basic compulsory education. Absolute monster family, brains and brawn.

All of Rudeus's kids can cast without incantation AND got personally trained in swordsmanship by the Mad King of Swords and the North God. They're just monsters.

Even Rudeus's own comparatively middling #7 spot on the "Seven World Powers" ranking gets rehabilitated partway through the thread, once someone actually explains the history behind the title instead of just the number — a small but pointed reminder that this fandom does its homework.

Rudeus making the Seven World Powers ranking with literally zero battle aura is the actual anomaly — being #7 by itself isn't anything to be ashamed of...

A side plot about a character named Isolte pulls the thread into its own mini-debate — specifically, how she stacks up against Eris and Roxy in a straight power comparison, and whether the family's own tier list even holds up anymore.

Isolte can tank the War God without a scratch and even counter him, plus she's mastered all three of the Water God's ultimate techniques — she's genuinely a tier above the other two. Eris one-shots things too, but only with gear and her spouse's mana boost stacked on top, so Isolte still feels a clear step ahead.

By the end, more than one commenter has half-jokingly concluded the franchise's real final boss isn't any single villain — it's just the entire extended family showing up at once, grandkids and all, and nothing standing across from them is walking away undamaged.

Isolte's marriage hunt, the kids growing up — even the "extra" epilogue material is packed and genuinely great. Honestly I wish the anime-only crowd could see this stuff too. Mushoku Tensei just has too many great characters, it's a problem.

Well, the real final boss is probably just getting taken down by the Greyrat family plus a few allies anyway — even Rudeus's grandkids and great-grandkids are basically all strong.

Which, given absolutely everything else in this thread, checks out completely. At this point the Greyrats aren't really a family so much as a standing army that just happens to also attend school on the side.
