Season 3 opens with the Eris Training Arc, which starts in volume 13 of the novels.[12][17][18]

Mushoku Tensei Season 3 (Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 3 in ANN's news, Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation III in ANN's preview guide, and 無職転生Ⅲ ～異世界行ったら本気だす～ in Japan) has 14 episodes. ANN's encyclopedia lists 14, TOKYO MX's episode listing runs to Episode 14, and the official Blu-ray release puts Episodes 8 through 14 on its second volume. That makes Episode 14 the finale, in the Sunday, Sept. 27, 2026 slot at 24:00 JST on TOKYO MX and BS11, which is 00:00 on Monday, Sept. 28 by the calendar in Japan; ABEMA and d Anime Store stream it at the same time. TOKYO MX titles it 「覚悟」 (roughly, "Resolve"). The official news we could read doesn't call it the final episode, so that call rests on the count.

The season opened a day earlier than first announced. Episodes 1 and 2 premiered back to back on Saturday, July 4 at 20:00 JST on TOKYO MX, streaming at the same time on ABEMA and d Anime Store, while BS11 aired the same pair the next night in its Sunday 24:00 JST slot. From Episode 3 on July 12, it's one episode a week in that Sunday slot, with no skipped weeks through Episode 14; the dates on this page follow TOKYO MX's broadcast days. Outside Japan, Crunchyroll streams it subtitled and with an English dub, and Muse Asia carries it on YouTube across much of South and Southeast Asia.

Season 3 opened with the Eris Training Arc and moved into the Chaos Breaker arc with Episode 8. The earlier seasons were each split in two: ANN notes that Season 1 aired in two parts, in January and October 2021, and that Season 2 ran for two cours. A figure of 27 episodes over two cours for this season also circulates online; we couldn't trace it to the official site or ANN.

How Japan watched Season 3

Our coverage of Season 3 picks up at Episode 4, and the first thing Japanese viewers wanted to talk about was Tomokazu Sugita. He voices Rudeus's past-life self and inner monologue, so when Rudeus's family found his secret shrine of keepsakes from Roxy and Sylphiette, the comments under TOHO animation's official clip were less about the shrine than about how hard Sugita went.

Episode 4's other clips stayed with the family, too: Sylphiette jealously misreading an offhand remark, and Roxy watching Rudeus cast Lightning with what fans read as a teacher's eyes rather than a lover's. By Episode 7 it was a tipsy Roxy at home, and one viewer thanked Studio Bind for animating almost every Roxy moment from the novels' Volume 13 they'd wanted to see. Things were calm enough that the preview threads for Episodes 5 and 6 turned into a running joke about dread, and one commenter turned "Turning Point," the label fans brace for before the story's darkest turns, into a character with a line of its own.

Episode 8 opened the Chaos Breaker arc and closed on a quiet meal: Perugius's servant had tracked down ingredients close enough to Japanese food for Nanahoshi, the only other person pulled into this world from Japan, and nobody in the scene pretended it tasted good. Then Episode 9, 「慟哭」 ("Wailing"), lived up to its title. A doctor tells Nanahoshi she will never be able to have children, and that thread spent almost all of its comments on how hard it landed. Nobody argued it should have been softer, and one viewer summed up the season's rhythm:

“Getting hit with this right after a run of peaceful episodes is genuinely rough. But it's exactly because Mushoku Tensei throws in a gut-wrenching turn like this every so often that I can't quit it.”

Episode 10 gave everyone a breather, mostly jokes about Zanoba wrestling the Immortal Demon King Atofe bare-handed plus an argument over whether she was even trying. Then came Episode 11, titled "Turning Point 4." Its preview showed almost nothing and handed the narration to Nanahoshi, and novel readers who couldn't say anything without spoiling it settled on a bit instead: pretend it looked cozy.

Once the episode aired, the bit was over. Hitogami's smile scared people who'd written him off as a goofball, commenters were thrilled to hear Sugita as Old Deus, the aging future Rudeus, and the line novel readers had kept repeating showed up again, this time after the fact:

From there it was Sugita's stretch of the season. Episode 12 let Old Deus tell his story through narration and expression instead of showing the brutal future directly, and Episode 13, 「日記」 ("Diary"), retraced the turning points present-day Rudeus lived through, except that for Old Deus every one of them goes wrong. That thread split over whether Rudeus is to blame or Hitogami kept sabotaging him, several novel readers said the anime hit harder than the books, and viewers pointed out that it aired just after midnight on Respect for the Aged Day (Monday, Sept. 21 in Japan), the holiday for honoring the country's elders. Across both episodes, the voice people had laughed at back in July carried the season's darkest material:
