Gojo vs. Sukuna: How Japanese Fans Actually Settle the Debate — "Gojo Said It Himself: He Doubts He'd Have Won"
“At the airport, Gojo himself says it was "doubtful he'd have won even without the Ten Shadows." That's the whole debate right there, honestly.”
Gojo vs. Sukuna is the fight English-speaking Jujutsu Kaisen fans never stop power-scaling — and a top Japanese reaction-compilation video put the same question (Satoru Gojo vs. a Heian-era, full-power Sukuna with no Ten Shadows) to a Japanese comment section of over 600. The most-liked takes do not split down the middle the way Western threads do. The thread that rises to the top keeps circling back to one piece of evidence: Gojo himself, at the airport, says it was "doubtful he'd have won even without the Ten Shadows," and the highest-voted Japanese fans treat that line as close to a confession. From there the discussion gets technical fast — that Gojo's opening 200% Hollow Purple only landed because of Utahime's buff and Ijichi hiding the wind-up, that Cursed Technique Reversal: Red has no real speed at range, that a creature with four arms and an open Domain just out-bodies him in close quarters — before settling on a recurring verdict ("run it ten times, Sukuna takes six to eight") that's noticeably less Gojo-friendly than the consensus overseas. It builds to the exact punchline a Japanese reader would land on.

The thing is, we've still never actually seen a full-power Sukuna at his best...
Gege, please, we NEED a Heian-era spinoff at this point...
We can't even properly grasp "full-power Sukuna" until they give us the Heian arc with sorcerers at their peak. His stats are probably absurd, but I really want to see the gap between his incarnated body and his original one.
- @wasp9404👍 3
"Full-power Sukuna" is this weird entity whose ceiling just keeps climbing into infinity precisely because we never got a single panel of him.
- @user-pk2zo1um3l👍 110
The Gojo camp: "that's just Gojo talking, he's making it up."
The Gojo camp: "he said it was DOUBTFUL he'd win — he never said he'd lose."
- @arimasen...👍 11
A sorcerer is only as good as his lies, after all.
Y'all are forgetting way too easily that the opening 200% Hollow Purple in the actual fight only happened thanks to Utahime's technique.
And on top of that, it only connected because Ijichi threw up a barrier to hide the wind-up. Purple isn't something you can normally land from range at all.
- @w2klew3n2👍 129
Realistically, there's no way you're cleanly landing it from range against someone who's already perceiving you. It's not that easy.
Right? lol Landing ranged hits on Sukuna over and over is damn near impossible.
- @abcABC-oj6wu👍 2
Purple has a charge-up too — Sukuna's not just going to stand there and eat it like an idiot, is he?
Purple has a big tell and a long charge, and Red has no speed — that's exactly why Gojo had to set up so many tricks just to land his big moves.
The four arms are just too much — you get caught in Cleave with two of them while the other two pummel you, and even in a straight melee you can't out-fight four arms while being Dismantled. It honestly feels unwinnable.
I genuinely think Gojo just gets overwhelmed and loses in close combat. If people rated Miguel highly just for being big, then a 2–3m, 300–400kg monster with four arms and two mouths is a different planet entirely.
Gojo's only win condition is going in cold, with Sukuna not having figured out the trick behind Unlimited Void. Outside of that, I don't see a path.
The gap between their Domains is just too big. The fact that Malevolent Shrine doesn't even need to close is so broken it's not a real conversation.
- @dio-jb2pu👍 4
The Domain gap isn't that big though. The open Domain was a threat, sure, but Gojo had enough room to actually fight inside Malevolent Shrine, whereas Sukuna took brain damage from being even a split second late on his own Domain. Sukuna's technique is higher, but isn't Gojo's quality higher?
- @Am-ti6gg👍 10
You can't beat a full-power Sukuna in hand-to-hand to begin with, so Gojo's already out of the running.
If Sukuna comes in trying to kill from the very first second, I'd put Gojo's win rate under 10% even with no cursed tools involved.
- @kikitozizi👍 2
If Gojo literally can't beat a full-power Sukuna who doesn't even have the Ten Shadows, then nothing explains why Sukuna schemed so hard to GET the Ten Shadows, or why he held his incarnated transformation in reserve. (…) So it means Sukuna judged that against Gojo's Limitless, the extra arms and mouths and cursed tools from going full-power weren't much of an advantage, and it was better to keep them in reserve as insurance for the fights afterward. A full-power Sukuna beating Gojo is actually pretty rough. I've got it 7:3 Gojo.
It's actually questionable whether Heian-era Sukuna even knows Cleave-Dismantle yet, though. (…) So if he doesn't have it, Gojo honestly just wins.
It also changes depending on whether you're bringing in Heian-era Sukuna raw, or a Heian Sukuna who already knows everything about Gojo.
- @AnubiTerror👍 3
Even going off Gojo's own words, it's not "I can't beat Sukuna" so much as "my odds are low" — like, run it ten times and it's eight for Sukuna, two for Gojo.
- @3z1mdme1z-l3i👍 14
My read is: run it ten times and Sukuna takes six, while the other four turn into a slugfest that ends up basically a draw.
Bro is NOT beating a full-power Sukuna lmao
I love both the Gojo kids who keep grinding even though the man himself basically admitted defeat, AND the shorts made specifically to wind them up.
Lord Sukuna still hasn't gone full power.
At the end of the day this is Gorilla Kaisen. (…) Take the technique away from Gojo and his only feature is having long limbs, so I just can't picture him winning.

📖 MangaMangaYouTubeBlue Box: Japanese Fans React to Kyo & Ayame's Long-Awaited Confession — "You Actually Said It... (arms crossed, watching like a proud parent)"
Blue Box (アオのハコ) just paid off one of its longest slow burns in the manga — Kyo Kasahara and Ayame Moriya, the side couple fans have been waiting chapters on chapters for, finally confess — and a Japanese clip of the moment lit up with reactions that all open the same way: "FINALLY." The most-liked comments aren't about the kiss-adjacent fluff so much as the writing choice underneath it: Ayame moves to confess first, and Kyo stops her to say it himself, and Japanese readers seize on that one beat as the most "Kyo" thing he's ever done — the recurring read is that a guy who could never act on his feelings choosing to be the one to step up is the whole payoff, not the romance alone. From there the thread turns into a wall of "it's been such a long road," tooth-rotting "this is too precious to look at directly," and a quiet undercurrent of anime-only viewers begging for it to be animated. It closes on the kind of completely melted one-liner only this couple could earn.

📖 MangaMangaYouTubeHell's Paradise: Japanese Fans React to the Tensen — "Wait, There Are Only TWO Voice Actors in This Whole Scene"
An official short clip from Hell's Paradise Season 2 — the Tensen, the island's immortal antagonists, casually harvesting a glowing "freshly-squeezed" tan in one of the show's signature cute-voice-saying-brutal-things moments — set Japanese fans off on a thread English viewers rarely get to overhear. The most-liked comments aren't about the gore; they're a love letter to the voice cast. The recurring revelation is that the entire group of Tensen is voiced by just two actors, Junichi Suwabe and Yuko Kaida, and that since the Tensen were all originally a single person, their banter is, lore-accurately, a monologue — "all of this is technically solo play." From there the thread spirals into Kaida's range (the same actor doing the cute and the dead-eyed voice), confusion over the glowing drink, a pile of JoJo "D4C" jokes, and the whiplash of "why did a weirdly wholesome episode just start in the middle of Hell." It builds to the kind of affection only fans who've sat with these villains could land.

📖 MangaMangaYouTubeOshi no Ko: Why Japanese Fans Are Still Furious About the Ending (Manga Spoilers) — "Please, Just Give Us an Anime-Original Ending… I'm Begging You"
Oshi no Ko's manga ending is, with Season 3 of the anime now adapting it, the single most divisive finale in recent shonen — and a Japanese commentary video titled "Why Oshi no Ko's Final Chapter Got Flamed" pulled out exactly the arguments English fans keep asking about. The most-liked Japanese reactions split hard. The recurring complaint isn't really the bittersweet outcome itself — it's two things: Kana Arima slapping Aqua's corpse at his funeral (defenders insist it pays off an earlier "slap my body and curse me out like always" line; detractors call that the flimsiest payoff imaginable), and Ruby — a co-protagonist the whole reincarnation premise was built on — getting her recovery compressed into a rushed digest while pages were "wasted" on side characters. Threading through it all is the verdict that creator Aka Akasaka is "brilliant at opening a story and worse than mediocre at closing one," which is why the most-upvoted plea is for the anime studio to simply rewrite the finale. But not everyone's angry, and the defense that lands hardest comes from the readers telling everyone else to calm down.

📖 MangaMangaYouTubeChainsaw Man Reze Arc: How Japanese Fans Read the Ending — "They Were a Few Dozen Meters from Being in Love"
Chainsaw Man's Reze Arc — the bittersweet bomb-girl love story from Part 1, now its own theatrical film — is the storyline English-speaking fans most often call the manga's emotional peak, and the most-liked Japanese reactions don't just cry over it. They dissect it. The thread that rises to the top fixates on the details Western readers tend to fly past: the flower symbolism (Denji's first white flower means "purity"; the single red gerbera Reze dies holding means "love at first sight" and "you are my destiny"), the perfect symmetry of a story that opens with Denji coughing up a flower and ends with him eating one, and a stack of anime-original touches — milk cartons drying at a school, a line about being "sixteen and studying for exams" — that only pay off on a second watch. The recurring theme is that the tragedy isn't an accident of bad timing but the point: even if Reze had made it to the café, fans agree, Makima was always waiting, so the one mercy the story grants is Denji's silhouette waiting for her at closing time. It builds to the kind of verdict only a Fujimoto reader would land.
