Jujutsu Kaisen: Gojo vs Sukuna — Fans Favor Sukuna 6-8 Out of 10

“At the airport, Gojo himself says it was "doubtful he'd have won even without the Ten Shadows." That's the whole debate right there, honestly.”
A top Japanese reaction-compilation video put the matchup English-speaking fans never stop power-scaling to a Japanese comment section of over 600: Satoru Gojo vs. a Heian-era, full-power Sukuna with no Ten Shadows. The most-liked takes do not split down the middle the way Western threads do. The thread that rises to the top keeps circling back to one piece of evidence: Gojo himself, at the airport, says it was "doubtful he'd have won even without the Ten Shadows," and the highest-voted Japanese fans treat that line as close to a confession. From there the discussion gets technical fast — that Gojo's opening 200% Hollow Purple only landed because of Utahime's buff and Ijichi hiding the wind-up, that Cursed Technique Reversal: Red has no real speed at range, that a creature with four arms and an open Domain just out-bodies him in close quarters — before settling on a recurring verdict ("run it ten times, Sukuna takes six to eight") that's noticeably less Gojo-friendly than the consensus overseas. It builds to the exact punchline a Japanese reader would land on.

The thing is, we've still never actually seen a full-power Sukuna at his best...
— @burori12465 likesGege, please, we NEED a Heian-era spinoff at this point...
— @横縦-v9v54 likesWe can't even properly grasp "full-power Sukuna" until they give us the Heian arc with sorcerers at their peak. His stats are probably absurd, but I really want to see the gap between his incarnated body and his original one.
— @凜々-t5u2 likes"Full-power Sukuna" is this weird entity whose ceiling just keeps climbing into infinity precisely because we never got a single panel of him.
— @wasp94043 likesThe Gojo camp: "that's just Gojo talking, he's making it up."
— @user-pk2zo1um3l110 likesThe Gojo camp: "he said it was DOUBTFUL he'd win — he never said he'd lose."
— @スティーブ-u3j31 likesA sorcerer is only as good as his lies, after all.
— @arimasen...11 likesY'all are forgetting way too easily that the opening 200% Hollow Purple in the actual fight only happened thanks to Utahime's technique.
— @シンジン-c8j124 likesAnd on top of that, it only connected because Ijichi threw up a barrier to hide the wind-up. Purple isn't something you can normally land from range at all.
43 likesRealistically, there's no way you're cleanly landing it from range against someone who's already perceiving you. It's not that easy.
— @w2klew3n2129 likesRight? lol Landing ranged hits on Sukuna over and over is damn near impossible.
10 likesPurple has a charge-up too — Sukuna's not just going to stand there and eat it like an idiot, is he?
— @abcABC-oj6wu2 likesPurple has a big tell and a long charge, and Red has no speed — that's exactly why Gojo had to set up so many tricks just to land his big moves.
— @スティーブ-u3j39 likesThe four arms are just too much — you get caught in Cleave with two of them while the other two pummel you, and even in a straight melee you can't out-fight four arms while being Dismantled. It honestly feels unwinnable.
— @ちゃーはん398えん-c3x14 likesI genuinely think Gojo just gets overwhelmed and loses in close combat. If people rated Miguel highly just for being big, then a 2–3m, 300–400kg monster with four arms and two mouths is a different planet entirely.
— @あべや-v5m22 likesGojo's only win condition is going in cold, with Sukuna not having figured out the trick behind Unlimited Void. Outside of that, I don't see a path.
— @やまたに-p3h88 likesThe gap between their Domains is just too big. The fact that Malevolent Shrine doesn't even need to close is so broken it's not a real conversation.
— @ないる-p2g35 likesThe Domain gap isn't that big though. The open Domain was a threat, sure, but Gojo had enough room to actually fight inside Malevolent Shrine, whereas Sukuna took brain damage from being even a split second late on his own Domain. Sukuna's technique is higher, but isn't Gojo's quality higher?
— @dio-jb2pu4 likesYou can't beat a full-power Sukuna in hand-to-hand to begin with, so Gojo's already out of the running.
— @Am-ti6gg10 likesIf Sukuna comes in trying to kill from the very first second, I'd put Gojo's win rate under 10% even with no cursed tools involved.
— @朝マック-u6d18 likesIf Gojo literally can't beat a full-power Sukuna who doesn't even have the Ten Shadows, then nothing explains why Sukuna schemed so hard to GET the Ten Shadows, or why he held his incarnated transformation in reserve. (…) So it means Sukuna judged that against Gojo's Limitless, the extra arms and mouths and cursed tools from going full-power weren't much of an advantage, and it was better to keep them in reserve as insurance for the fights afterward. A full-power Sukuna beating Gojo is actually pretty rough. I've got it 7:3 Gojo.
— @kikitozizi2 likesIt's actually questionable whether Heian-era Sukuna even knows Cleave-Dismantle yet, though. (…) So if he doesn't have it, Gojo honestly just wins.
— @たけ-s9w4z4 likesIt also changes depending on whether you're bringing in Heian-era Sukuna raw, or a Heian Sukuna who already knows everything about Gojo.
— @物書きの論ですo8 likesEven going off Gojo's own words, it's not "I can't beat Sukuna" so much as "my odds are low" — like, run it ten times and it's eight for Sukuna, two for Gojo.
— @AnubiTerror3 likesMy read is: run it ten times and Sukuna takes six, while the other four turn into a slugfest that ends up basically a draw.
— @3z1mdme1z-l3i14 likesBro is NOT beating a full-power Sukuna lmao
— @坦々麺-f9y21 likesI love both the Gojo kids who keep grinding even though the man himself basically admitted defeat, AND the shorts made specifically to wind them up.
5 likesLord Sukuna still hasn't gone full power.
1 likesAt the end of the day this is Gorilla Kaisen. (…) Take the technique away from Gojo and his only feature is having long limbs, so I just can't picture him winning.

A Japanese anime-theory YouTuber's deep dive into when the Jujutsu Kaisen movie adaptation of the Gojo vs. Sukuna fight might actually release sent Japanese fans into a frenzy of box-office math and production-schedule detective work. The recurring theme in the comments was equal parts hype and patience: fans openly rooting for MAPPA to push the release back a full year rather than repeat the brutal crunch that hit Attack on Titan's staff, while others traded detailed theories about splitting the final arc into two or even three separate films, citing Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle's box office run as the bar to clear. One commenter even laid out an insider-level breakdown of how MAPPA rotates staff between Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man to explain the gap between seasons. Stick around for the joke about just how far into the future fans are already resigned to waiting.

A One Piece reader-reaction channel collected fan responses to chapters 1189 and 1190, zeroing in on Brook's dialogue about a character called Gunko, where he calls her "like a daughter to me" moments after telling her he never wanted to see her again. Across 151 comments, the top comment (186 likes) quotes both lines side by side to make the contradiction obvious, and the rest of the thread runs with it — joking that a different writer must be handling Brook scene to scene, or that he's secretly been swapped for someone else. A handful of fans push back on the jokes just to say, sincerely, that they like this character and the recent writing makes them sad to watch.

On July 29, a Japanese manga-reaction channel posted a video about a confusing line from One Piece Chapter 1189, one Shueisha has now confirmed will be reworded for the print volume. Across 324 comments, the top reply (342 likes) needled Oda's grammar directly. From there, the thread split into two tracks: readers trying to guess what Oda actually meant to say, and readers pivoting to blame the editorial team for letting it through in the first place. It ends on a joke nobody quite let go of — one about an entire fictional family that apparently can't tell its own sons apart.

Why Japanese Anime Keeps Winning: What Japan's Own Comment Sections Give Away
Ask why Japanese anime is so hard to beat and the answer usually comes back as a pile of nouns. Budgets. Sakuga. I spend my nights reading and translating Japanese comment sections, a few thousand at a time, and from that side of the glass the answer sits much further upstream. Not in the show you streamed. In everything that got cut before it ever reached you. That part never shows up on a timeline.
