Dandadan Ch.238: Japanese fans say Aira Shiratori just had the best growth arc in the cast
“Okarun and Aira are both way too cool this chapter. Aira, you're a real one. Getting good friends has made her grow the most out of everyone, in every sense. I just want her to land somewhere that feels right to readers and be happy.”
On Dandadan Chapter 238 'Okarun's Resolve', Japanese readers rallied around Aira Shiratori, calling her the character who has grown the most. They traced her arc from bullying Momo to coming back changed, compared her heartbreak-with-dignity to Ai Haibara from Detective Conan, and split over shipping her with Jiji. Mixed in: total confusion over who the new villains even are, relief that Hase is still alive, and a plea for a relationship chart.

Aira is the best, honestly. Even the awful stuff she did to Momo early on was because she genuinely thought Momo was a monster.
- @juka5959👍 7
For Aira, Momo is more than just a love rival. Momo is also the one who cracked the fake cutesy shell Aira had built around herself, so her feelings have to be complicated. Thinking back on all of that from the early arcs, this chapter actually made me tear up.

This chapter's Aira reminds me of Ai Haibara from Detective Conan in the movies. She lost in love but still owns up to it as a comrade, and it's both sad and badass. Jiji's probably headed for the same place someday...

That moment where she snaps back from the Akusala state reads like a depiction of heartbreak, I think.
- @nja2605👍 2
Good, she basically got rejected but there was no version of Aira who just gives up. If Aira ever gave up on Lord Takakura, Dandadan would lose a huge chunk of its fun.
Personally I want her to end up with Jiji.
I get it. Some people will say it's just pairing off the leftovers, but Jiji really is a good guy. Flashy but a genius type who cares about his friends, and Aira who acts all girly on the surface but is actually nurturing and devoted, I think they'd match up pretty well.

Thank you for putting into words everything I was thinking lol. Those two are way too good to be called leftovers.

I just want to see more Okarun and Momo together.

Oh good, so I'm not the only one who can't tell which villain is which.
There are so many villains now they all look the same to me... And if they need Okarun's power, does that mean he's holding more than just Turbo Granny's power?
- @Rigidbody.AddForce👍 10
Can't tell who's who? Everyone except Hase and Red Baron is brand new, so what are you even trying to keep track of? They'll probably get taken out fast anyway, just remember the scissors guy (who isn't even in this chapter).
- @speedpusher1486👍 1
Just post a relationship chart already. Hayashi, do your job.

Glad Hase didn't get a redemption arc.
- @ChonmageRainbow👍 0
It makes me sad how many people forgot Hase even exists...

Honestly we don't need Hase at all.

Calling it: the smoke guy gets his power stolen by Saint-Germain's crew, barely survives, and ends up defecting to Okarun's side.
- @BASIKER👍 2
Red Baron feels like the vanguard of the Dragenai crew, the weakest among them, but I'm not sure. He's clearly got a rivalry thing going with Saint-Germain.

I keep stressing that his clothes are going to get caught in the bike's rear wheel.

📖 MangaMangaYouTubeKagurabachi Ch.124: Japanese fans on Shiba stealing the show and the betrayal — "called it, I knew this guy was a traitor"
On Kagurabachi Chapter 124, Japanese readers agreed Shiba completely runs away with the flashback arc and the betrayal finally drops. The thread praised how the pace jumps the moment Shiba appears, swooned over his "I'll take responsibility" line, joked about him casually one-handing a 40kg crate, and weighed up Hiroto, Hayami, and the Sushi Chef. By the end someone is already smug that they saw the traitor coming.

📖 MangaMangaYouTubeOne Punch Man: Japanese Fans React to a Critic Calling Murata's Art "Impossible to Follow" — "Question Your Own Eyes"
On One Punch Man, Japanese fans pile onto a critic who said Yusuke Murata drew "3 pages you can't understand," and most of them defend the art hard. The thread splits between people roasting the take ("if you can't read this, question your own eyes"), people calling out the video as outrage-farming that cherry-picks a handful of haters, and a smaller camp who say the panels are fine art but maybe a flat layout. Someone even claims a person this confused would call Dragon Ball hard to follow too — before the last word lands.

📖 MangaMangaYouTubeOne Piece's Art Style Over 27 Years: Japanese Fans React — "Of Course It Changed, You've Been Serializing It Since I Was a Baby"
On One Piece, a Japanese fan thread broke down how Eiichiro Oda's art has shifted across the manga's ~27-year run — early vs mid vs late era — and it turned into an affectionate, nostalgic argument rather than a complaint session. The recurring theme: most of the top comments crowned the mid era (the Water Seven / Enies Lobby look) as peak Oda — thinner lines, the best-balanced faces, the coolest Zoro, Sanji and Luffy designs — while a big camp went to bat for the clean, readable early art and the original Nami and Zoro. The most-liked observation reframed the whole debate with a shrug: he's been drawing this since his readers were literal babies, so of course the style moved. Running underneath it all was the thread's killer gag — that as Oda's drawing skill went UP, Nami's and Nico Robin's apparent "mental age" went DOWN — and a fond roast of how a young Nami once stared down Arlong solo, where today she "just screams." A small minority found the current Elbaf-era art rougher, but the thread landed somewhere warm: the guy was already a monster artist at 22, and most fans just love whichever era they grew up reading.

📖 MangaMangaYouTubeBoruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 35: Japanese Fans React — "The Villain Shinju Seem Friendlier Than the Heroes"
On Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 35, the most-liked Japanese reactions zeroed in on an irony the series keeps leaning into: the antagonist Shinju (the Divine Trees) come off warmer and more bonded than Boruto Uzumaki's own camp, while the supposed "ally" side is stuffed with nastier people — "more stressful than the villains." The recurring themes: a running "pot cat" comedy bit between Jura and Hidari (and a fan theory that Masashi Kishimoto secretly storyboards those panels), Code freezing up at Amado's dad-jokes, fresh "Borusara" (Boruto × Sarada) moments melting people, and Kawaki betraying everyone again — to the point fans openly say they feel nothing for him. Underneath the jokes ran a sharper thematic read: BORUTO deliberately lacks NARUTO's "everyone unites" spirit — these relationships run on mutual benefit, not bonds — plus theories that Jura could learn "love" and turn ally for the final boss, and a Momoshiki timeline puzzle from the Chapter 1 cold open. And after all that, the thread ends on the eternal Boruto question fans never stop asking.
