Mushoku Tensei Season 3 Episode 13: Old Deus's Diary Reveals His Worst Timeline
Mushoku Tensei Season 3's Episode 13, "Diary," adapts the flashback explaining how the elderly Old Deus became the burnt-out husk fans have already met — retracing the same turning points present-day Rudeus lived through, except every one of them goes wrong this time. Across the video's 209 comments, viewers spend most of the runtime processing exactly how bleak that alternate route gets, arguing over whether Rudeus deserves the blame for who he becomes, and comparing notes on how much harder the anime hits than the novels it's adapting. By the end, more than one commenter admits they had to pause the episode partway through.

Mushoku Tensei Season 3 Episode 13 Preview: Fans Brace for the Diary Arc
Mushoku Tensei Season 3's official preview for Episode 13, "Diary," dropped September 18 from TOHO animation's channel, and unlike last week's preview, it's narrated in-character by present-day Rudeus rather than the older "Old Deus" persona who carried Episode 12's teaser. In under a day the video passed 1,500,000 views and pulled in over 1,000 comments. The top reply (2,030 likes) credits the production team's restraint about spoilers, but another heavily-liked comment (1,308 likes) reads the preview as confirmation the anime is about to animate the diary material in full rather than compress it into a quick recap, and the comment section splits between anticipation and dread from there. By the end of the thread, commenters are debating whether the tragic path shown here even counts as the story's "true" version of events, and whether Episode 13 is shaping up to be the best episode of the year or the most miserable one.

Mushoku Tensei Season 3 Episode 12: Old Deus Reveals the Truth — What Japan Said
Mushoku Tensei Season 3 Episode 12, which aired September 13, delivers a flashback fans are calling the season's biggest reveal yet, narrated by the aging future version of Rudeus everyone calls Old Deus. A new Japanese reaction video built around the episode has pulled in 334 comments in four days. Most of the discussion centers on one performance: voice actor Tomokazu Sugita, confirmed behind Old Deus back in Episode 11, gets praised for career-best work, and several commenters argue the anime's choice to convey the character's grief through narration and expression alone — rather than showing the events directly — makes this version hit harder than the novels ever did. The most-liked reply overall (258 likes) isn't about the performance at all, though — it's a joke that the show timed this episode's diary flashback to land on Japan's Respect-for-the-Aged Day, following an earlier death that aired on Father's Day. Editor's note: nobody in the comments thinks this is as bad as it gets, either — a heavily-liked reply (219 likes) warns that the real gut-punch is still one week away.

Mushoku Tensei Season 3 Episode 12 Preview: Narrated by Old Deus — What Japan Noticed
TOHO animation's official preview for Mushoku Tensei Season 3 Episode 12, "The End and the Beginning," is narrated in-character by the elderly future version of Rudeus fans call "Old Deus" — voiced, tellingly, by Yui Uchiyama, the actress who plays present-day Rudeus. Across the video's 948 comments, the single most-liked one (1,759 likes) says just hearing that voice used this way "gets" them, and from there the section reads the casting choice as a spoiler in itself: if Old Deus is narrating, this is the episode where everything he built gets taken away. Several viewers connect it to why the season spent so many episodes on quiet, happy domestic scenes first. The comments end less on a joke than on a group of people bracing themselves.

Mushoku Tensei Season 3 Episode 11: Old Deus Reveal Has Japan Talking
A supplementary breakdown video for Mushoku Tensei Season 3's Episode 11 goes over material the TV broadcast either skipped or only hinted at — what happens to Atofe after the fight, and a scene cut from the anime entirely. It also confirms something the credits had already given away. Across the video's 257 comments, the top one (195 likes) is a theory about why the elderly character everyone's calling Old Deus looks healthier on screen than the novels ever described him. From there the section splits between defending that design choice, savoring the voice-actor reveal, and reacting to a much colder scene once a different character reappears later in the episode. By the end, nobody's still calling last week's near-empty preview a letdown.
