Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX: Japanese diehards look back — "the most fun I've had with Gundam in years"
“"Official doujin made by Gundam diehards" is the label that fits this show best.”
On Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX, Japanese Gundam fans look back after the finale and mostly land on the same verdict: a blast to watch weekly, even if they won't rewatch it. The thread argues over the breakneck pacing, the redesigned Gyan and Dom, the Zeon-wins alt-history, and whether one cour was enough, in an affectionate but conflicted mood. One fan sums the whole show up in five words.

In the end my impression is it stayed inside the doujin box.
If you love it, just love it. That's fine.
- @DAMDAM-ZON-GERU-GE👍 50
The advance theatrical cut was probably the peak, but no question this is the most exciting, heart-pounding Gundam in years.
The relentless pacing just made it genuinely fun.
The what-if timeline where Zeon wins honestly got me hyped.
Felt like Gihren's Greed.
Man, I wish they'd just put out a Gihren's Greed remaster…
- @pon4210👍 7
Even most of the haters won't argue against that part, I think.
- @rinda-komaru👍 20
Never thought the Gyan could be made that beautiful.
- @Tys244👍 6
Never thought the Gyan and the Braw Bro could look that cool. And never thought I'd live to see the day I'd be ready to lose it over missing the lottery for the Gyan Gunpla.
I love that there's an actual reason the Gyan is built for close combat.
- @speedpusher1486👍 17
A three-legged Dom, a GM that's basically a Gelgoog, a Psyco Gundam as a living God Warrior weapon. The way it smashed established concepts was wild.
Honestly, plot aside, I just loved the mobile suit movement, the way they'd move like Evas and fire head vulcans.
- @neko-w5p-o4y👍 31
At first the mobile suit designs made me lose my mind, but the finale made it click.
- @okhan👍 12
I kept wondering why the character designs were like that, then realized it's an anime parody and it all made sense.
- @bluet4522👍 2
Before it aired I was like "this is the protagonist? who asked for this?" but after watching I liked her enough to want the figure. Machu's cute.
Love Machu's look.
Nyaan's adorable, and the way it barreled through such an over-the-top what-if was a blast.
- @maromaro01002👍 24
"Fun to watch week to week, but I'll pass on a second run." That's genuinely the right take.
"Fun, but I'll pass on watching it twice" is exactly how I feel too.
It was fun to talk about while it aired, but not something I want to rewatch. And I didn't end up buying a single kit from this line.
If only it had four cours… everyone died in a flash so they were gone before you could get attached. It felt rushed, like they crammed in every character they wanted to show, Bask and all.
Two cours might have let them dig deeper into the characters. And the final fight against the white Gundam left me feeling they could've done more with it.
- @hk-e7k👍 1
It's basically a one-joke kind of show, so if they'd split it into two cours the second cour would've felt like a wake.
- @DOKAAAAAAN👍 2
These days I usually binge anime later on streaming, but I was so scared of spoilers I watched every episode live. The Star Driver-level speed made it a blast.
First show in a long time that made me look forward to next week.

Stop worrying about it, like what you like. Me, I love GQuuuuuuX.

📺 AnimeAnimeYouTubeWhat's the Best Gunpla Kit Ever Made? Japanese Builders Weigh In — "So YOU Claim It's Perfect? Don't Make Me Laugh, You Commoner."
Asked which Gunpla (Gundam plastic model) kit is the single best-engineered one ever made, Japanese builders did what any good hobby community does: they refused to agree, and the thread turned into a gloriously nerdy roundtable instead. The most-liked picks tell you a lot about what Japanese modelers actually prize — and it isn't always the flagship. The runaway crowd-pleaser is "the HG (High Grade) Zeon 'swimming club' kits," the affectionate nickname for Zeon's amphibious mobile suits, praised for low part-counts and budget pricing while punching way above their weight on poseability and proportions. "The HG Gundam Aerial" from The Witch from Mercury gets love on the principle that "the protagonist's mobile suit always gets the most effort," with one builder calling its all-new tech "flat-out brilliant." "The MG (Master Grade) Narrative Gundam Ver.Ka" earns a flat "everything about it is too perfect," "the HGUC Gustav Karl" gets singled out for cleverly balancing proportion and range of motion through smart gimmicks, and the budget kings — "the HG Genoace" and the AGE Federation line — win the "cheap, moves well, great molded-in color separation" vote. There's wholesome shop talk too: a confession about a shield that's a pain to paint inside, a fragile shield-arm joint, and a lot of old-timers marveling at how far the hobby has come. And then someone shows up to put the Narrative fanboy in his place with one perfectly haughty Gundam-villain quote.

📺 AnimeAnimeYouTubeGundam: The Witch from Mercury — How Japanese Fans Look Back on It: "Watching Guel's stock crash and then moon was the funniest part."
Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury — Sunrise's first TV Gundam led by a female pilot — is the entry English fans most often hear was "a phenomenon" in Japan, but rarely get to see why. On a Japanese fan-reaction thread built around its Episode 1 hook (Suletta's "I'm a girl, though…" / Miorine's "Nice to meet you, my groom"), the most-liked Japanese comments aren't relitigating the divisive ending — they're nostalgic. The recurring themes: how the cast's "stock" violently crashed and soared (poor, beloved Guel and his infamous tent-and-part-time-job arc spawning the "Guel Camping" meme; Suletta being nicknamed the "Mercury tanuki"); how the show's wholesome school-yuri surface kept getting yanked back into brutal Gundam reality ("Stop it!", the tomato, the gut-punch prologue); and a very Japanese piece of media history — the wave of "Lycoris Recoil refugees" who flooded in for the yuri right as it aired, then got hit with YOASOBI's "Shukufuku" going viral. It closes on the kind of one-line verdict only a longtime Gundam fan would land.

📺 AnimeAnimeYouTubeChainsaw Man Assassins Arc PV: Japanese fans realize the Gun Devil arc is coming — "they're here to break us"
On the Chainsaw Man Assassins Arc teaser, Japanese fans clocked that the PV teases the Gun Fiend stretch, not just the assassins, and braced themselves. The thread argues over how far season 2 will reach (volume 9? the movie?), whether the Darkness Devil's reveal gets the cinematic glow-up it deserves, and laughs at Denji getting run over again — under a heavy 'I want to see it but I don't want to see it' mood about the ending nobody's ready for.

📺 AnimeAnimeYouTubeJujutsu Kaisen: Japanese Fans Debate If Sukuna's Slashes Are Actually Fast — "The real cheat is that they're invisible"
On Jujutsu Kaisen, Japanese fans pushed back hard on the claim that Sukuna's Cleave and Dismantle aren't fast. The debate splits three ways: that the real broken part is the slashes being "invisible" with no wind-up, that Mahoraga adapted at the moment the technique activated rather than reacting to blade speed, and that Maki only got clipped while frozen from a Black Flash. Plus a running joke about speed-adjustable slashes that ends on the obvious troll read.
