Pokémon Legends: Which Region Should the Game Explore Next?

“Surely it has to be Unova…”
With Pokémon Legends: Z-A out, Japanese fans are debating which region the next Legends should explore — and the comment section turned into a full-on communal wishlist. The most-liked picks split into a few camps. The runaway favorite is Unova: a top comment dreams of a Scarlet & Violet-style Legends split into "a past arc and a future arc," while others want a payoff for Complete Forme Kyurem and the Zekrom/Reshiram hero legend. Right behind it is Johto set about 150 years before Gold & Silver — "I want to see the legendary beasts' true forms before they were revived" — digging into the origins of Raikou, Entei and Suicune. Alola has a loud bloc too, betting on a trip to the past to finally unpack Ultra Necrozma and the Ultra Beasts. And the most ambitious wishlist mechanics got people dreaming big: fusing with a Pokémon to control it directly, and one fan's pitch to "travel between past, present and future where your past actions change the future" — a game so huge that, as fans joke, "even the Nintendo Switch 2 might struggle to run it." It's a light, hopeful thread, equal parts lore theory and pure fan wishlist. So: Unova, Johto, Alola — where do you want Legends to go?

I want the Scarlet & Violet Legends to be split into a future arc and a past arc.
— @zk-226254 likesWhat — that sounds incredibly fun.
20 likesI'd take it even if it were a game where you travel between past and future — heck, the present too — and your past actions change the future. The kind of thing even the Nintendo Switch 2 might struggle to run. Though honestly, by the time an SV Legends actually drops, we'll be way past Switch 2 hardware anyway.
— @shimesaba-n6z21 likesMy bet is either Unova with Complete Forme Kyurem, or Alola digging deep into Ultra Necrozma. And I'd love a system where you fuse with a Pokémon and control the Pokémon itself directly.
— @user-gllerss121 likesYeah, I really want to see Complete Forme Kyurem. In a way, movie-Kyurem was already "complete" since it could use both the black and white powers lol
— @レスティアアッシュドール-u9p5 likesSo this means "…it turned into Zekrom!" finally becomes real?!
— @エーナ-w8l1 likesI want a Legends Kyurem so badly — I want to see the hero of the legend.
— @ざわざわ-d6l5 likesI want to see old-era Johto, and I'm curious about the true nature of the legendary beasts (Raikou, Entei, Suicune) before they were revived — so I'd love something set 150 years before Gold & Silver.
— @飛魚-j6b74 likesGive me a Legends Celebi where I can see Entei, Raikou and Suicune before their reincarnation, and the Burned Tower before it burned down…
9 likesI'd really like to see a Johto arc.
— @mahoukikai1 likesFor Alola it's gotta be a trip to the past with Ultra Necrozma, right?
— @きちすけ-b1i34 likesThere's no way we don't get an Alola dynasty arc… lol
16 likesI'd love to see an Alola from a timeline where the Ultra Beasts took over.
— @タマ-s5g1 likesPlease make an Alola Legends — I love Lillie so much!
— @ナンリー-i7t7 likesFor Alola I'd lean future, actually… setting aside whether they go Ultra Sun & Moon or Sun & Moon, I want to see Lillie and Gladion grown up, the family healed, and their dad coming home. And I want them to dig deep into the Ultra Hole world — heck, make the whole plot a quest to find their dad. The anime gave them a happy ending, but the games (especially Sun & Moon) ended way too bitter. I just want to see Lillie smiling.
— @紅葉-c7j2 likesMan, I hope the Ultra Beasts show up.
— @white_kawaii1 likesI really hope a Legends Galar gives us something like Professor Hop.
Legends
— @マルマイン-q2h64 likesI'll keep waiting forever for the day a Legends Galar lets me get my starter from Professor Hop.
— @凪-k2d4 likesControlling Dynamax Pokémon in real time sounds awesome, so — Galar.
— @木-e6b8 likesI'd be thrilled if a Galar game revealed the true forms of Zacian and Zamazenta.
— @Masahiro-h6c1 likesIf they do a "Legends: Unova," I want it to land on Ghetsis being Ghetsis whether it's the past or the future lol (and if it's the past, I'd love N's parents to show up).
— @Youtuber-ym5ni20 likesBW had that whole thing about a legendary Pokémon helping found the nation, so I'd love a setting in the legendary, ancient era of Unova. I want a journey in pursuit of ideals and truth!
0 likesI'd guess BW. Between the first game and its sequel there's still a lot of unfinished business and unexplained lore, and I think SV being tied to Unova was a setup — the Indigo Disk crew weren't just random new faces, they were planted in SV to set up a future Legends.
— @Hydreigon_Tyranitar2 likesLegends has a more mature feel and the story is genuinely good — every Pokémon fan should give it a shot.
71 likesThat said, I want the next Legends to really deliver. Compared to Legends: Arceus, Z-A lacked that sense of wonder — I want to go on a real adventure.
— @アランスミシー-j5i1 likesIf you think about it, they've been working through older regions in order — the Diamond & Pearl remakes plus Legends: Arceus, the Unova-related Indigo Disk, then Z-A. By that logic either the next mainline game gets an Alola-related DLC, or Alola becomes the next Legends.
— @turndog6632 likesZ-A dropped little hints about both Galar and Alola, so it's probably Generation 7 or 8 next. I want to adventure back and forth between towns and the wilds — system-wise, a hybrid of Legends: Arceus and Legends: Z-A would be ideal. The city wouldn't need to be as detailed as Z-A's Lumiose (which was mostly hollow facade buildings anyway).
JP1 likesFrom a meta angle: in Champions, the season after Mega Evolution will probably be a Z-Move season, so I bet Alola is next. Also Gen 10 felt kind of Alola-ish (total reach, I know).
— @ABCd-ed4ir9 likesI want them to tackle Ho-Oh, Kyurem and Necrozma, around those.
— @リン-g9l1 likesHonestly I think the next one is a Legends Necrozma, with an outside shot at Kyurem or Mewtwo, maybe Celebi or Ho-Oh. Though some part of me feels they could just go with Mew.
0 likesMy dream lineup: • Professor Oak's origin story • the legend of Ho-Oh and Lugia • Unova's hero and its dragons • the fall of Necrozma.
1 likesHonestly I'd love to see the young ancestors of the "seesaw duo." No idea whether they'd be the protagonists or just NPCs, though.
— @おにし-u3n2 likesArceus had a quiet, understated charm so I get that, but Z-A is for kids, no?
— @aa-cp5up14 likesNot sure it'd come via Legends, but I want to do Contests with high-quality graphics like Sword & Shield's — I want to dress my Pokémon up way more!

218 likesGamesYouTubePokémon Champions: New Mega Evolution Abilities Revealed — Mega Staraptor Steals the Show
Pokémon Champions revealed a fresh batch of new Mega Evolutions and their Abilities for the competitive Regulation Set M-B ruleset, and Japanese trainers immediately broke out the spreadsheets and the shitposting in equal measure. The breakout star was Mega Staraptor, which got handed Contrary — meaning an enemy's Intimidate or even an ally's Charm no longer weakens it but BUFFS its Attack instead. Fans lost it over the implications and the animation: top comments joked that Staraptor "realized the best defense is offense," that it gets "so hyped by a teammate's Charm it just keeps bulking up," and that the buffed-up look is straight-up cursed ("I want the stoic, hard-boiled handsome Staraptor back!"). The other big thread was a redemption arc: a lot of reveals that fans had pre-judged as "this thing's trash" got quietly saved once the Abilities dropped — Mega Eelektross pairing Levitate with Beast Boost, Mega Pyroar slotting into the fire-type balance — with one glaring exception. Malamar, the lone Galarian-flavored letdown, landed exactly as badly as everyone predicted, prompting the instant-classic "Malamar, you didn't have to be contrarian about your stats TOO." Expect base-stat math, niche tech like Speed Boost Baton Pass setups, and a lot of love for the most unhinged bird in the format.

Meccha Chameleon is the hide-and-seek party game out of Japan that just exploded worldwide: hiders disguise as objects while a seeker hunts them. But in this clip — shared by Japanese creator Sekai Ojisan — the hider does the exact opposite of hiding: he juke-dances around the 'stop man' seeker with pinpoint emote-cancels, and Japanese fans lost it. The most-liked comment simply declares that the entire point of the game has changed. From there the thread crowns a whole new archetype ('there are chameleon players, hide-and-seek players… and now: the dodge faction'), marvels at how the player shrinks his hitbox with emotes ('so crafty'), and notes that Chinese players in particular tend to run circles rather than hide. It's the affectionate, in-the-know laughter of a fanbase watching someone break their favorite game in the funniest possible way — right down to the exasperated question every player ends up asking about who gave the chameleon dodge skills in the first place.

A pricey (~50,000 yen) Balteus figure from Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon was announced half-jokingly as a giant "candy toy" — and Japanese fans piled in. The thread cracked up at the idea of a 1,000-to-1 Xylem being physically impossible, got genuinely grateful that FromSoftware keeps the IP alive through merch even without a sequel, and argued Balteus really is near the top of the PCA's combat roster — "of course they sent their best from the start." Affectionate, broke, and ending on a line about the thing prowling your room at night.

Why Japanese Anime Keeps Winning: What Japan's Own Comment Sections Give Away
Ask why Japanese anime is so hard to beat and the answer usually comes back as a pile of nouns. Budgets. Sakuga. I spend my nights reading and translating Japanese comment sections, a few thousand at a time, and from that side of the glass the answer sits much further upstream. Not in the show you streamed. In everything that got cut before it ever reached you. That part never shows up on a timeline.
