A pricey (~50,000 yen) Balteus figure from Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon was announced half-jokingly as a giant "candy toy" — and Japanese fans piled in. The thread cracked up at the idea of a 1,000-to-1 Xylem being physically impossible, got genuinely grateful that FromSoftware keeps the IP alive through merch even without a sequel, and argued Balteus really is near the top of the PCA's combat roster — "of course they sent their best from the start." Affectionate, broke, and ending on a line about the thing prowling your room at night.

  • Saw the display unit at AmiAmi in Akihabara. It's genuinely big enough to need both arms to hold, and the detailing is fine. That skinny sensor-looking thing on the head looks like it'd snap instantly, kinda scary. I stood there staring at it thinking "so this is a single 50,000-yen stick of gum…"

  • No question it's huge and expensive, but years of being domesticated by other toys means I've kind of landed on "eh, sounds about right." My only worry is whether my spirit survives building a kit this big that's technically a candy toy.

  • People always ask why enemy factions in games and manga don't deploy their strongest from the start — but Balteus is genuinely close to the PCA's top-tier combat power. Of course, it's a special-ops unit.

  • The PCA might own stronger weapons, but among what they can actually ship to Rubicon, Balteus and the cataphracts are about the top of it. And the fact that a de facto top commander of one wing of the biggest enemy faction rides in on a modified version of this — even setting Coral power aside, that puts it pretty high up in the world's pecking order.

  • Even before that — a regular Rubiconpter is already a serious threat to mob MTs and rank-and-file mercenary ACs. The only ones shown taking one down are 621 and old man Dolmayan; nobody else has a recorded kill, even in the text material.

  • I always assumed it held the flamethrower and missile pods in its hands — turns out arms sprout from BOTH its weapons and link up. That caught me off guard.

  • We may not be getting a sequel or DLC, but it makes me happy that they keep the IP alive on other fronts — concerts, model kits, stuff like that.

    続編やDLCこそ出ないものの、コンサートやプラモなんかの別路線でIPを生かしてくれるの嬉しいよね

  • Price-wise it's up there with the Neo Zeong or Dendrobium, but it's just as big or bigger… and look closely, the pilot inside is unexpectedly handsome lol. FromSoftware, the sequel, please, soon…

    値段的にネオングとかデンドロビウム並だがそれと同等以上のデカさ…よく見ると中の人が以外とイケメンなので草 早く続編をフロムはですね…
