The official Japanese anime channel for From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman Season 2 dropped its fourth promotional video mid-season, and the headline reveal is a new character, Shuste, whose introduction reads immediately as a rivalry with Alushia Citrus for Beryl's attention. The PV also carries over the emotional payoff from the training arc that just wrapped — Beryl beating his father in a duel, followed by his mother's words — while previewing bigger, movie-scale action still to come. Across 212 comments, most of the excitement lands on Shuste's arrival and the love-triangle framing, but the thread's most substantive exchange is actually a source-material debate: a reply chain works through how faithful the anime is to the original light novel versus the separately-drawn manga adaptation, with one commenter arguing the anime has already overtaken the manga's story progress entirely. By the end, one reply about the show's 45-year-old lead landing a love interest in her mid-20s gets the thread's most agreeable answer yet.
