Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You Finale Trailer Drops — Japan Wants Season 2
The official finale trailer for Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You is out, and it's less a preview than a eulogy. Across 307 comments on the Asmik Ace channel, Japanese viewers aren't hyping the last episode so much as mourning that it's already here — the top comment (608 likes) opens with "ugh... the healing is about to end" before immediately demanding a second season. What follows is a genuinely charming flood of loyalty: fans promising to buy the manga and the Blu-rays specifically because that's what actually convinces a production committee to greenlight more episodes, alongside a running debate over why a show this loved isn't a bigger hit. By the time the thread gets to the jokes about outliving Sazae-san, nobody's really talking about the finale anymore.

Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You Episode 3: The Store Manager Steals the Show
Three days after Episode 3 of Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You aired, the show's official channel posted its usual post-broadcast highlight clip, and the 23 comments underneath barely mentioned the two title characters — the most-liked reply, at 142 likes, wasn't about romance at all, it was about how bone-deep relatable working the night shift is. From there the thread pivoted hard toward a side character nobody expected to become the main event: the store manager, who picked up a wave of "she's surprisingly girly" and "give me more of her" comments for a scene that was originally supposed to be about the two leads. By the end, one commenter had joked that the manga's real final chapter should be retitled from "the two of them" to "just one of them, alone," and another admitted, with a straight face, that a woman in her forties had never looked this endearing to them before.

Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You OP: The 'Clean' Nicotine Anime
When Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You's official channel posted the TV broadcast version of its opening theme the day after Episode 1 aired, the 451 comments underneath turned into a running joke about which of this summer's two nicotine-themed anime Japanese fans actually preferred — the single most-liked comment, written in a cat's voice envious of this show's "cleaner world," pulled in 920 likes before three separate replies told it to go home. From there the thread kept escalating the same bit: one commenter played dumb about there being any "dirty" nicotine anime out there at all, another spelled the contrast out directly, and a few people admitted the show's smoking scenes make them want a cigarette again — right up until they remember what airs immediately after it. Underneath the running gag, plenty of comments were genuinely about the music, with listeners picking apart how different this arrangement sounds from the version that circulated before the show's TV premiere. By the end, nobody was debating the song anymore.
