My theory is the magic aptitude test has made people lazy on their foundational skills.

A lot of these isekai or reincarnation MCs will get around the slavery system by buying the slave, and then treating them like a free person (an employee or servant) or a family member (e.g., "Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody"). 5:00 He could be going to a magic academy to evaluate their teaching methods and suggest improvements, like the MC did in "The Strongest Mage with the Weakest Crest". 5:40 Why is magic weaker now? That's the part that's always irritated me. Has it ever occurred to any of these MCs to FREE the slave and then treat the now free person like a free person? It's not as if they'll suddenly change their mind about following the MC anyway. Eftal is particularly egregious here. He doesn't even TRY. Freeing her has zero repercussions and Eftal CERTAINLY has the power to get rid of the crest. There's no way it's more than a lvl 6 effect (and likely lower than that as anything above a 4 seems to require MULTIPLE mages working together). It'd probably evaporate on the spot if Eftal so much as gave it a slightly disappointing look. Kid is effectively THE authority on magic (Far better foundation and can use up to lvl 10 spells in a world where most can't manage more than a half-baked 4) and THIS is what he stumbles on?

Good episode, I liked that we found out Anastasia is a relative to Merlin. I didn’t expect that but I like the outcome, it’ll be interesting once they meet again and how the interaction will go. For now as far as we know, we could see this go a couple of ways, either Merlin will be attracted to him or she’ll see him as the old ephtal that adopted her and we just stick to that, but with Anastasia being here makes me think it’ll be the second route but maybe the existence of a rival will trigger feelings. Any once again we have a great episode of taking a slave and giving them freedom (well technically as we found that the crest can’t be removed easily). I did find it really cute when he encouraged Anastasia to be angry for once and she was so timid. Lastly I just say, a shame we didn’t get that thumbnail o7

I am genuinely enjoying the show.. I get people not liking the slavery plot, but doesn’t appear he’s going to use her as a slave. She asked to stay with him. Otherwise a terrible person could become her master. FLOW and TrySail are a great combo for the opening and ending themes.
