I’m not gonna sugarcoat it, but last weeks episode made me so angry at how stupid the MC was and him lying to Merlin, that I decided that if the next episode he’ll still keep up the charade, then I’d quit.
But thank fck that he didn’t hide it from Merlin anymore…

This is the first time I’ve seen you get so worked up while watching anime 🗿 I haven't felt this annoyed watching anime since SAO, specifically when that elf bastard held Asuna captive. I want to see how it all ends for him. I just hope Eftal doesn't act all naive like a typical protagonist anime when facing that scumbags.

魔法を殺したのは、第一話で出てきた適性検査の発明だと思う。エフタルは適性ゼロだったけど、努力で全属性の高位魔術を習得して、その中でも雷を極めた。今は適性が無い人間はそもそも魔法を学ぼうともしないし、ある人間も自分の属性しか鍛えず他を無視する。だから土台になる万遍ない基礎が育たない
the thing that killed magic was the invention of the affinity test in the first episode. Eftal had no affinity but through hard work learned high level spells of all elements and mastered lightning the most. Now people who don't have affinity never bother to learn magic and those with magic affinity for certain elements only train in those elements and ignore the other ones so they don't get a well rounded general basis to build from.

マーリンが彼のために急いで強くなろうとしてるの、『葬送のフリーレン』のフェルンとハイターを思い出す。他の4人の皇や最強の雷魔術師ほどの強さは無いかもしれないけど、最終決戦の場に立って足を引っ張らなかっただけでも十分すごい
Merlin trying to get stronger fast for his sake reminds me of Fern & Heiter from Frieren. He may not be as strong as the other 4 Emperors or even the strongest electric mage, but the fact he was in the final fight & not dragging everyone down is still impressive.
この作品で恋しくならない部分がこれ。緊張感がまるで無い。何かを散々盛り上げておいて、ほぼ即座に「冗談、簡単でした」をやる。
「メルリンに正体を明かすわけにはいかない」と言った直後に「バレたか、俺だよ」とか、奴隷を所有してた貴族の件もそう。
This isn't something I'll miss about the series; there's absolutely no stakes. They'll hype something up and then almost instantly "jk, it was easy".
Like the whole "We can't tell Merlin about my identity" and then immediately followed by "You got me, it's me" or the slave owning noble.

アニメでは、登場人物が意味もなく敵に自分のスキルの仕組みを説明して、敵がそれを活かせないことが本当によくある。もし龍がメルリンを攻撃してエフタルを防戦に回らせていたら、勝ち目はあったかもしれない。まあ、書き方の粗さはこの作品に不可欠な要素だけど。

Eftal: You can't use common sense for this series. The plot demands you don't do anything smart so that I can look good for the two babes over there. Now die.
Very often in anime people pointlessly tell their enemies how their skills work, and they fail to capitalize on that. If the dragon had attacked Merlin, forcing Eftal into defense, he might have stood a chance to win. Well, bad writing is essential for this series.
それでも、汚染がどうやって全員の魔法を弱めるのか、そして主人公がなぜその汚染を気にしなくていいのかは、まともに説明されていない。むしろ余分な魔力がそのへんに漂っているなら、暴走魔法のような現象が起きるほうが自然だ。後から転生したことは理由にならない。彼の肉体は他の全員と同じように生まれ育っていて、後から目覚めただけなのだから。環境が関係ないというなら、環境汚染だという説明自体が成り立たない。
含みとしては、メルリンを含む全員が、汚染のなかで魔力を精錬するのが単に下手なだけで、地下深くには汚染から守られた場所があるはずだ、という線がある。彼に適性が無かったことが、その汚染の本流から切り離す働きをしていた可能性もあるのでは？ 「転生したから」という中身の無い切り札のままで終わらせないでほしい。
It still doesnt really explain how the pollution worsens everyone's spells or how MC can just not care about said pollution. One could also expect extra magic being around would cause wild magic like effects, instead. Being reincarnated later shouldnt matter, as his body was still born and raised with the rest, he was only awoken later on. It wouldnt make sense to say its environmental pollution when the environment apparently doesnt matter.
There are implications that everyone else, including Merlin, simply suck at refining their magic through the contamination and that there should probably be places deep underground protected from said pollution. There may be something regarding his lack of aptitude disconnecting him from a direct line of said magic and pollution? I just hope they dont keep it at a "his reincarnation" as a lacking silver bullet.

奴隷のプロットはこの作品でいちばん出来の悪い部分だ。アナスタシアは今も奴隷紋を持っているし、アベも生きている。要するに引き延ばしているだけということだろう。

The slave plot is by far the worst part of this series. Anastasia still has the slave crest and Abe is still alive. Guess we're just stalling then.
毎回、いつになったら物語らしいものが始まるのかと思いながら観ている。人間の学校での2話はフェイクだったわけで、今度は魔族の学校に移った。ここでも学園編を続けて、魔族の女の子マリアがエフタルに惚れて、アベが"""悪役"""を演じるのか？
おそらく12〜13話構成のうち7話まで来ているのに、いったい何が起きているんだ。主要な敵役もいない、解決すべき問題も一つも無い、ただ主人公を持ち上げるだけの場面から場面へ、支離滅裂に移っていくだけだ。しかもその主人公は、まだ英雄的なことを何ひとつしていない。
Every episode I'm wondering when we're going to actually got to some semblance of a plot. The 2 episodes at the human school were a fake out, now we're just over to the demon school. Are we going to continue the school arc here with demon girl Maria lusting after Eftal and Abe acting as the """villain""" ?
We are 7 episodes into what is probably a 12-13 episode season? What the hell is even happening? We don't have a primary antagonist, we don't have a single problem to solve, we just go from scene to schizophrenic scene of things gassing up the hero, who hasn't done anything heroic.
