One Piece Episode 1168: Japanese Fans React to Shamrock's Kerberos Devil Fruit — "They Definitely Did This to Kill the Blackbeard Theory"
“They 100% did this specifically to kill the "Teach is Kerberos" theory dead.”
One Piece anime episode 1168 revealed that Shamrock's sword holds the Kerberos zoan devil fruit, and Japanese fans immediately zeroed in on what it does to a long-running fan theory: that Blackbeard secretly ate the Kerberos fruit himself. The top reaction says it outright — the anime staff clearly timed this reveal to kill that theory once and for all, since a three-headed dog now living inside someone else's sword makes the "Blackbeard is Kerberos" idea structurally impossible. From there the thread splits into two running debates: whether the ability itself (heads flying off the sword to stab things) is a disappointingly plain way to debut a mythical zoan, and the bigger mystery nobody can crack — how do you even feed a devil fruit to an inanimate sword in the first place. It closes on fans just laughing at how silly the whole spinning-collar mechanic looks in motion.

Honestly, the "Blackbeard is Kerberos" theory was the cleaner explanation.
- @YWaj-w3r👍 63
Though if Blackbeard ISN'T Kerberos anymore, you have to ask what's actually going on with his body structure at this point.
Other people in these comments are saying it too — they definitely put this out because the Blackbeard theory got too popular.
- @hirohk462👍 0
If Kerberos shows up here, the Blackbeard-Kerberos theory is dead. So what's left for him — was it the octopus one?
Guess Blackbeard's an octopus now. 🐙
Maybe it's connected to Blackbeard's Jolly Roger flag?
- @hibiki9578👍 36
Kerberos doesn't really have that kind of ability in mythology anyway, and honestly it didn't even need to be Kerberos specifically.
- @tomotomo8937👍 138
It's drawn to look cool, but if the ability is really just "three heads fly off and stab something," that's a pretty plain debut.
So after awakening, all it does is launch three big blades? Kind of weak. Even if it can do more later, the first big reveal is supposed to have impact — this doesn't.
I mean, that's just what Kerberos is as a creature.

At this point One Piece has basically turned into a different manga.

I really want to know HOW they got a sword to eat a devil fruit in the first place.
Maybe they mix devil-fruit juice into the metal when forging the blade?
- @x-roll92👍 6
@ぶり子-f9o That could tie into Bonney's experiments too, honestly.
They still haven't explained the method for feeding devil fruits to weapons. I really thought Egghead would spell it out.
Come to think of it, the technology for feeding a Zoan fruit to an inanimate object still hasn't been revealed. Is it some kind of alchemy-like synthesis using one of Vegapunk's machines?
Seriously, how do you get a sword to eat a devil fruit.
- @cycleworks_1999👍 0
How did they even feed it to the blade.
- @daedae0p👍 4
Triceratops that can fly. Brachiosaurus that turns into a snake. At this point a Kerberos with heads that move on their own doesn't even surprise me anymore.

Is this working the same way as Queen's "Brachio-snake-us" form?

Ever since the Five Elders showed up, devil fruits feel like they've gone past biology and turned into actual wizardry.

Personally I think the hound of hell suits Red-Black's crew — Shamrock's sword gets Kerberos, and Shanks' sword gets a Griffin.
Wonder if Shanks can actually manifest a Griffin too.

Honestly I wish they'd kept Shamrock down to just swordsmanship and Haki. 😢

I couldn't help thinking it looked more like "Emperor Penguin 2" than a hellhound.

So the spiky collar just spins around and flies off? That's the kind of dumb move a middle schooler would come up with.

This is basically just a Kerberos-shaped launcher firing drones! Where'd the swordsmanship go, Shamrock?!

📺 AnimeAnimeYouTubeOne Piece Chapter 1186: Japanese Fans React — "ONE PIECE Is Dead"
One Piece Chapter 1186 gives Japanese readers the moment they've been waiting for — Luffy lands a hit on the final boss Im — and then immediately cuts to a flashback. The response from Japanese fans was uniformly bleak. Three threads dominated the comment section: the pacing that kills momentum before it can breathe (fans mourning that the era of punches that "carried the feelings of characters and readers alike" is gone for good); Brook's stomach-turning "I changed your diapers" plea that somehow made his protégé stabbing him in the skull feel completely earned; and a silent mid-chapter retcon of a key power slipped in with zero acknowledgment. Voice actor Chō-san collected the most sincere sympathy. The highest-liked comment kept it short: "ONE PIECE is dead. No matter how many times you call out, it won't come back."

📺 AnimeAnimeYouTubeYomi no Tsugai's Second-Cour PV Drops, and Japanese Fans Are Losing It — "This Is Where It Really Begins"
TV anime Yomi no Tsugai dropped the main PV for its second cour, confirming a back-to-back continuation starting July 4, and Japanese fans in the comments are treating it as the moment the show finally shows its true face. The recurring theme is relief and gratitude that there's no long gap between cours, mixed with manga readers warning anime-only viewers that the story is about to accelerate hard from here — one commenter says they bought every collected volume after this exact stretch of the story hooked them. Alongside that, fans dig into the PV itself: praise for creator Yoshiko Arakawa's plotting, a running joke about a mysterious new character's punny name, and voice-actor shout-outs for how the new OP syncs a gunshot "click" with the opening beat. It all lands on a comment that finds an unexpectedly perfect anime comparison for where this character's arc seems headed.

📺 AnimeAnimeYouTubeMadoka Magica: Walpurgisnacht Rising — Japanese Fans React to the Final Trailer: "Delay. Canceled. Confirmed."
The full trailer for Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Walpurgisnacht Rising dropped — and after years of delays on the follow-up to Rebellion, the single most-liked Japanese comment is just four characters of pure relief: "no more delays, confirmed." But the reaction underneath it is anything but light. Fans zero in on the film's thesis — a girl who'd lose herself to save everyone, versus a girl who'd lose everything to save one person — and on their hope that Homura, after all this time, finally gets to grasp a happy ending. The thread turns quietly devastating as long-time viewers share why this movie matters: someone who suffered a brain hemorrhage last December and pushed through rehab just to walk into the theater on their own two feet; someone discharged from a leukemia ward who might make it if there's no relapse; someone who saw the original 14 years ago with a friend who has since "become a concept," and now understands Homura completely. It runs through instant, reflexive Kyubey hatred, the dread that an unbilled finale could mean another decade-long wait, and a wry "wait, is this Evangelion?" — before landing on a simple rallying cry.

📺 AnimeAnimeYouTubeRe:Zero's Third Trial: Japanese Fans Decode the "Worst Future" Lines — "They're Being Paid Off in Canon, and It's Terrifying"
Re:Zero's Third Trial shows Subaru glimpses of a "worst possible future," and Japanese light-novel readers are picking apart every cryptic line the characters speak in it — Julius, Ram, Felis, Garfiel. The top reaction captures the dread perfectly: these lines sound so out-of-character they read like an "if-route" that could never happen in canon, except author Tappei Nagatsuki keeps quietly paying them off in the main story — "I never, ever want to see the part where Garfiel says this to Subaru." From there the thread becomes a masterclass in the kind of deep-cut theorizing English-speaking anime-only fans rarely get to see: which lines are canon foreshadowing versus doomed if-routes, whether Emilia's "I hated you from the moment we met" is aimed at Pandora rather than Subaru, whether Wilhelm's "can't even swing a sword without your blessing, thief" hints at Reinhard losing the Sword Saint's divine protection, and what Garfiel's mysterious "promise" refers to. It runs through a "Garfiel is basically Bakugo now, lol," genuine praise for Nagatsuki's foreshadowing, and lands on the line everyone dreads most.
