Makes me think that when Momiji joins the cast, “that scene” might end up handled by chief animation director Yano instead of series creator Nozawa herself. Even setting the voice cameo aside, the sheer number of hand-drawn frames in that dance is the kind of thing you can bring up in conversation for years.

Japanese comment sections on this show read less like reviews and more like reference-spotting contests. Episode three's Nadi debut filled up almost entirely with people naming parodies instead of discussing plot, and the idol-concert episode turned into what amounted to a thank-you card to the animators.

The running structural joke is that every new girlfriend rewrites the OP and ED. When Yaku Yakuzen — Kusuri's grandmother, voiced by Rie Kugimiya — finally appeared in the ending, the frame-by-frame hunt for what the animators had snuck in for her started immediately.
