Fool Night Anime Teaser: Japanese Fans React — "Uchiyama, Why Do I Always Get the Painful Roles?"
“Uchiyama: 'Why do I always get the painful roles?'”
Fool Night — Kasumi Yasuda's bleak dystopian manga where the dead are recycled into blooming "trees" — is getting an anime, streaming worldwide on Netflix in 2026, and the teaser sent Japanese fans into a frenzy. The single most-liked comment was pure fandom in-joke: recognizing lead voice actor Kouki Uchiyama on the spot and quipping in his voice, "Why do I always get the painful roles?" Beyond that, the comments read like a long-suppressed fanbase finally exhaling — readers who'd assumed such a niche, all-gray manga would never be animated, relief that it landed a strong team (fans clocked SHAFT and composer Tatsuya Kato), and a steady drumbeat of "the manga is a masterpiece, go read it now before everyone else finds it." The throughline: they're certain this will be the most acclaimed show of its season, and quietly thrilled it'll finally get discovered by the wider world.

Thought 'this might be Uchiyama'… and yep, it was Uchiyama.
This is my favorite manga, so I'm genuinely thrilled it's getting an anime! Uchiyama's voice fits Tōshirō's image perfectly — it's uncanny.
This year's Netflix is getting completely dyed in Kouki Uchiyama and I'm here for it.

I've been waiting — for a long, long time. Tōshirō's voice is so cool.
AAAH it's Fool Night, it's actually getting animated?! It's so good but it never got adapted, so I'd figured it just never would. It's a world so suffocating that merely surviving is a struggle — but if they capture that feeling of chasing the sliver of light that's left, I'll be so happy.

Fool Night is going to get its due, no question. The manga itself is a masterpiece, so read it now while you're ahead of the curve.

Nobody around me reads Fool Night, so scrolling these comments and realizing there are this many fans made me so happy! Can't wait for it to stream!!

The color and lighting alone are enough to tell you it's in safe hands. Thank you.
My favorite series in ages. The art is genuinely superb, so please go read the source — the whole thing is gray, this manga.
- @masaps5738👍 18
I'm full up on isekai. A hard-edged premise drawn as an extension of our real society just hits different. The message is great too — I'm so hyped.
- @y-king6066👍 14
Even in the manga the world looked pretty brutal, but with color added it looks even harsher… Wonder how far they'll take it. Excited.
So glad Tatsuya Kato is scoring it… that skin-crawling tension and the ache of it…
I've read it since it started serializing in Big Comic Superior. The art style is unusual but skilled, and it gets deeper the further the story goes. The anime looks like it'll be really well made.
I'm a SHAFT partisan so I was tracking the reveal, and the moment it dropped — I didn't know the source, so I went and read volume 1. It was incredible. Can't wait for the anime!
- @ut5833👍 5
Never read a page of it, but it captivated me within seconds. The art's careful and clean too — excited.
- @T.-dp7bl👍 16
Fool Night getting an anime under conditions this good — that's incredible.
I always thought 'this would obviously shine as an anime if it just had the name recognition…!' so I'm overjoyed 😭 I'm certain it'll be a hit overseas too. Honestly kind of jealous of the people meeting it for the first time through the anime lol
Speaking as a manga reader: this will, without a doubt, be the most acclaimed show of its season.
So it's finally gonna blow up, huh. This manga is stupidly good.
- @mizutamak5888👍 6

📺 AnimeAnimeYouTubeBotan Kamiina Fully Blossoms When Drunk Finale: Japanese Fans React — "An Unmistakable God-Tier Anime"
Botan Kamiina Fully Blossoms When Drunk closed out its 12-episode spring 2026 run on June 27, and Japanese fans spent the following days crowning the drinking-and-yuri drama the season's quiet masterpiece. Under a Japanese reviewer's finale wrap-up, the comments broke down exactly why it landed: three couples each written in a different key, grown-up romance told through liquor, literature and film instead of direct confessions, studio Soigne's metaphor-heavy direction, ending themes that sent viewers off in tears every week, and the original author Hei personally drawing key animation. The one honest asterisk — episode 3's divisive art — only sharpened the love, and the season-two tea-leaf reading is already in full swing. The last word goes to a fan whose wallet took collateral damage.

📺 AnimeAnimeYouTubeJujutsu Kaisen: Japanese Fans React to Baby Naoya — "Is There No Boob Here or What?!"
Jujutsu Kaisen fans in Japan were handed a serious fan-theory video — "the reason Naoya Zenin was born is that Gojo did X" — and promptly ignored the theory to roast baby Naoya instead. The comment section fixated on how his infant face already looks exactly like his smug adult self, joked that he was a breast-obsessed misogynist straight out of the womb ("Is there no boob here or what?!"), ran with the "Baby-in Naoya" pun (Zen'in → Baby-in), and seized on his October 22 birthday as proof he "came out at maximum speed" to match Toji's date. A few sincere takes about Naobito's age and inheriting the cursed technique snuck in too — before the thread quietly agreed you still can't bring yourself to hate him.

📺 AnimeAnimeYouTubeSaga of Tanya the Evil II: Japanese Fans React — "I Never Thought We'd Wait 9 Years"
Nine years after the original TV anime ended, KADOKAWA dropped the second main trailer for Saga of Tanya the Evil II ahead of its July 8, 2026 premiere, and Japanese fans flooded the comments with disbelief that the wait was finally over. The recurring threads were nostalgia for the returning veteran voice cast and theme song artists (MYTH & ROID and Aoi Yuki are both back), grim real-world parallels to the trailer's Eastern Front imagery, and one widow's comment about watching for her late husband that resonated with over a hundred replies. Even Tanya's own thumbnail got roasted for looking utterly heartless.

📺 AnimeAnimeYouTubeJujutsu Kaisen Season 4 Teaser: Japanese Fans React — "There Are Lies in This World Better Left Untold"
When the Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4 (Death Culling Game arc) teaser dropped in June 2026, an overseas fan immediately called out what looked like an error — Sukuna appeared without his signature tattoos — and accused MAPPA of using AI. Japanese manga readers instantly knew better, and the comment section became a gleeful gathering of people who couldn't say why the design was intentional without spoiling everything. 'There are lies in this world better left untold,' wrote the second-most-liked comment (374 likes), perfectly capturing the manga-reader stance. The recurring thread: 'I want to tell him — but telling him IS the spoiler.' Those in the know settled for cryptic inside jokes ('Today I have just one word: Kaikotsu'), while one comment bittersweet-ly mourned: 'Soon we won't see Megumi for a while.' The kicker is that the original overseas poster later claimed it was rage-bait all along — and then got roasted even harder for that.
