Blue Box Season 2 Opening: Fans Decode Hidden Flower Symbolism in aiko's New OP
Blue Box Season 2 opened with a new non-credit opening set to aiko's "Anata no Hana no Iro" ("The Color of Your Flower"), trading Season 1's sports-centric energy for an opening built entirely around Taiki and Chinatsu's romance -- and a flower-language code that Japanese viewers started cracking within hours. Across the video's 242 comments, the top-liked reaction (288 likes) frames the shift directly, contrasting Season 1's club-activity focus with this opening's romance. From there, commenters turn into amateur florists, timestamping which flowers appear in each shot and what they mean in hanakotoba -- anemones, roses, and sweet peas in one scene; ranunculus, alstroemeria, and sunflowers in another, each tied to a specific feeling. A few even catch the opening quietly calling back to a prop from Season 1 -- read on for how far the flower code actually goes.

Even the Student Council Has Its Holes! Premiere Tests Japan's TV Censors
Even the Student Council Has Its Holes! premiered its first episode Saturday, October 3, in TOKYO MX's late-night slot (with an uncensored cut streaming separately), and Japanese viewers spent the reaction video's comment section treating it as the spiritual successor to a beloved 2010s comedy. Across the 214 comments left under a reaction video covering the premiere, the most-liked comment (184 likes) said it "instantly" brought Seitokai Yakuindomo (Student Council Staff Members) to mind, and another claimed that manga's own author had praised the new series as good for 16 years of serialization — one more than Seitokai Yakuindomo itself ran. From there the thread split into two running conversations: how far studio Passione, also behind this season's FX Fighter Kurumi-chan, was willing to push the content past what the original ever attempted, and which streaming service actually carries the uncensored cut (commenters corrected each other more than once). Not everyone treated the raunch as the whole story. A smaller group of manga readers weighed in on the adaptation's quality itself, and the episode's blunt cold open got singled out as its own punchline before the nostalgia talk even started.

FX Fighter Kurumi-chan Premiere Is a Forex Horror Story Behind Cute Art
FX Fighter Kurumi-chan, Passione's new Fall 2026 anime, premiered October 1 with a content disclaimer most shows don't bother with — a serious warning about the real risks of leveraged currency trading. The story follows college student Kurumi Fukuga, who opens a forex account with her own ¥300,000 in savings to win back the ¥20 million her mother lost, and the life that was lost with it, in a margin-trading collapse tied to the 2008 Lehman Shock. Across the 156 comments left on the video that collected Japan's reaction to the premiere, one comment with 53 likes didn't hedge: "This isn't investing. It's not even speculation. It's gambling." Most commenters treated the show's candy-colored art style as an active disguise for something much darker, reaching for comparisons to the gambling classic Kaiji and, in one case, to Chainsmoker Cat — unfavorably, for Chainsmoker Cat. A smaller group pushed back on the "pure horror" read, arguing the episode doubles as blunt financial education Japanese schools don't teach. Whichever side commenters landed on, several admitted the premiere accomplished something unusual for episode one of a cute-girl anime: it made them want to stay away from the thing it was depicting.

One Piece Episode 1180: Anime Staff Quietly Rewrite More of Oda's Clunky Lines
This week's One Piece anime episode, 1180, adapted another batch of the manga's notoriously awkward "New World syntax" dialogue — and on the way to air, the anime staff rewrote several of the lines again. On a Japanese reaction video collecting comments on the episode, 629 comments in, picking apart exactly what got rewritten is once again most of the conversation. The top comment (1,057 likes) just quotes the manga's original over-the-top phrasing approvingly, but plenty of others treat the anime's edits as a running indictment: one highly liked comment (314 likes) argues that fans who used to defend the dialogue as fine are being proven wrong episode after episode, while another (212 likes) lays out the no-win bind Oda is in — fix it, and it's an admission the line was off; leave it, and it gets mocked anyway. By the end, nobody in the thread seems to mind doing the anime staff's proofreading for them.

Mushoku Tensei Season 3 Episode 14: Finale's Ending Line Breaks Japan's Heart
Mushoku Tensei Season 3 closed its 14-episode cour on September 27 with "Resolve," the finale where Rudeus commits to fighting Orstead and the episode ends on Eris sprinting off with "I'm coming now, Rudeus!!" right as Mika Nakajima's ending theme kicks in. On a Japanese recap channel that spends each week explaining what the anime trims from the original novels, the finale pulled in 419 comments, and that exact transition is the moment everyone keeps replaying. The thread splits almost evenly over everything else: one highly liked comment (454 likes) wishes the anime had kept a taunting line from the villain Hitogami intact, while another argues the trimmed dialogue makes Rudeus's decision to fight Orstead look like he agreed to it too casually. Plenty of other commenters push back, insisting the cuts were the right call for the episode's pacing — and anime-only viewers are already bracing for a long wait with no idea what happens next. By the end, the complaints mostly give way to people just replaying that final scene one more time.

Steel Ball Run's New Ending Song Has Japanese Fans Roasting It Nonstop
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run just got a new ending theme — a rap track called "Dead or Alive" by rapper Yuki Chiba — and Japanese fans spent a 2,557-comment thread roasting it nonstop. The reaction compilation video that collected those comments drew 3,485 likes of its own, and the jokes range from the song's tone clashing with the story to overseas viewers apparently finding it even worse once they understand the lyrics. A handful of commenters tried to defend it — but even they mostly ended up praising the rapper's talent while admitting the song itself doesn't fit.

Re:Zero Break Time Episode 85: Shaula's Painful 400-Year Goodbye to Flugel
Re:Zero's official "Break Time" mini-anime Episode 85, "The Scorpion's Fairy Tale," flashes back roughly 400 years to the moment Flugel actually leaves Shaula behind — and Japanese fans spent the comment section picking apart every tiny detail of how hard he made that goodbye land. Across 1,013 comments on the official channel's upload, the recurring theme was how a two-and-a-half-minute comedy-adjacent short managed to hit as hard as a main-episode gut-punch, with plenty of fans saying it recontextualizes Shaula's devotion from the current season. The thread's funniest comment also doubles as its saddest: someone resigned themselves to waiting another 400 years, just for Season 5.

Summer 2026 Anime Fan Poll: Jaadugar Wins No. 1, Record Votes
A Japanese anime review channel's season-ending fan poll for Summer 2026 has crowned Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia the season's top show, with Draw This, Then Die! taking second and Though I Am an Inept Villainess placing third. The vote drew over 600 participants, the channel's largest turnout ever, and the comment section spent far more time reacting to the results than arguing with them. Across 269 comments, several viewers who initially doubted Jaadugar because of its art style say they came around after actually watching it, and one comment even notes that the show's own creator showed up to react to the results. The discussion also digs into what made the rest of the top five stand out, from Draw This, Then Die!'s scrappy charm to Though I Am an Inept Villainess's small on-screen touches for foreign viewers trying to keep character names straight. By the end, even commenters who disagreed with parts of the ranking admit it was one of the deepest seasons in recent memory.

One Piece SBS: Oda's Flight-Fruit Answer Backfires on Fans
One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda answered a reader's question in the manga's SBS Q&A column about which flight-granting Devil Fruits the character Pell knows about — and instead of naming them, he replied that Pell doesn't know about every flight-type fruit in existence, dodging the actual question. On a Japanese reaction video collecting comments on the exchange, readers are calling the answer defensive and evasive rather than funny. Across 245 comments, the most-liked one (217 likes) jokes that a reply this touchy over a simple question must mean something's up. Others go further: one highly liked comment (123 likes) says Oda seems to have mistaken ordinary criticism for an attack, while another with 84 likes breaks down exactly why the answer doesn't logically respond to what was asked in the first place. Not every comment is pure mockery, though — some end up somewhere more wistful, comparing this answer to how playfully Oda used to handle SBS questions in the manga's earlier years.

One Piece Anime Smooths Out One of Its Most Notoriously Clunky Lines
This week's One Piece anime finally adapted one of the manga's most notoriously clunky exchanges — and while animating it, staff quietly rewrote the dialogue around it, though not the meme phrase itself. On a Japanese reaction video collecting comments on the episode, the edit itself became the whole conversation before anyone got to the actual story. Across 461 comments, the top comment (996 likes) points out that the anime left the manga's actual meme line untouched and only smoothed out the dialogue immediately around it. Not everyone is as forgiving: another highly liked comment (532 likes) argues that needing the fix at all is something Shueisha's editors should be embarrassed about. From there the thread splits between blaming the source material and crediting the anime staff's editing, and commenters can't stop previewing next week's episode, which apparently crams several more of the manga's most-memed exclamations into just a few pages. By the end, even the skeptics admit they're curious to hear a professional voice actor deliver the next one out loud.

Chainsmoker Cat Finale Trailer: Japan Is Already Begging for a Season 2
Chainsmoker Cat's official channel dropped the trailer for its Episode 12 finale on September 23, titled (in a fittingly dumb pun) "Nya Still Smokes Even in the Finale, Nya." Within a day the clip pulled in more than 1,400 comments and 7,700-plus likes, and the top comment — a blunt three-word demand for a Season 2 — has racked up over 2,800 likes on its own. Almost none of the top comments are actually about the episode itself. Instead the section splits between commenters mourning the end of their weekly ritual, others betting the show's future on Blu-ray and merch sales, and a smaller thread of fans who briefly forget which 2026 cigarette-themed anime they're even watching. By the end, one commenter jokes about wanting the world's most improbable long-runner: an anime about a cat whose whole premise is famously short odds of a long life.

Re:Zero Break Time Episode 83: A 400-Year-Old Flashback Even Novel Readers Didn't Know
Re:Zero's official "Break Time" mini-anime for Episode 83, titled "The Six Stars' Journey," turned out to be a 400-year-old flashback starring Reid Astrea, Flugel, and a much younger Shaula — buying alcohol together while Satella, not yet sealed away as the Witch of Envy, tags along. Across 765 comments, Japanese fans — including plenty who've read the novels — spend most of the thread stunned that a casual, comedic side-format is where the show chose to drop major backstory, from hints about Flugel and Subaru sharing a body to a first modern-era cameo for Alexandric Hoshin outside the Isekai Quartet movie. The recurring joke is that author Tappei Nagatsuki keeps using "break time" as a euphemism for "here's a lore bomb." One runner-up plot point almost gets buried entirely: Shaula won't stop asking if Reid is dead, and nobody in the comments can decide if that's foreshadowing or just a good bit.

Re:Zero Season 4: Julius's Duel Splits Japanese Fans Over a Shuffling Walk Cycle
A recent Re:Zero Season 4 duel gave Julius Juukulius a big, dramatic power-up moment — and then, a few seconds later, undercut it with a walk cycle so stiff and shuffling that fans immediately nicknamed it "toko-toko" (the sound of tiny, mincing footsteps). Across 667 comments on a fan-run reaction upload, the section splits almost evenly: one side insists the animation team simply didn't have the schedule to smooth it out and that armchair critics should back off, while the other lays out, shot by shot, why the camera work and character motion never quite matched up. A few just admit they've grown fond of the shuffle either way. By the end, one of the loudest defenders of the scene turns out to be someone who was laughing at it the whole time.

Chainsmoker Cat: Yani Washes Herself in a Park Fountain, and Her Mom Doesn't Even Blink
Chainsmoker Cat's Yani — a teenage girl who fully identifies as a cat, chain-smokes constantly, and treats being a pet as her actual lifestyle — washes herself in a public park fountain in a recent episode, technically within the posted rules the whole time. Her human guardian Shizue stands right next to her and doesn't react at all. The 199 comments on this reaction-compilation clip barely discuss the fountain itself. Most of them are stuck on Shizue: whether her total lack of reaction makes her the most understanding parent in anime or the more unsettling character in the scene, and why a bathtub at home was never on the table to begin with. By the end, even the in-universe characters seem to agree this household isn't normal.

Mushoku Tensei Season 3 Episode 13: Old Deus's Diary Reveals His Worst Timeline
Mushoku Tensei Season 3's Episode 13, "Diary," adapts the flashback explaining how the elderly Old Deus became the burnt-out husk fans have already met — retracing the same turning points present-day Rudeus lived through, except every one of them goes wrong this time. Across the video's 209 comments, viewers spend most of the runtime processing exactly how bleak that alternate route gets, arguing over whether Rudeus deserves the blame for who he becomes, and comparing notes on how much harder the anime hits than the novels it's adapting. By the end, more than one commenter admits they had to pause the episode partway through.

Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War: Gouryuu Tenmetsu Goes Gold, and Japan Mocks Overseas Fans
In the newest episode of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, the kido spell Gouryuu Tenmetsu appears colored gold instead of the purple most fans expected from the manga's black-and-white pages — and on a Japanese reaction video with 260 comments, that single color triggered a full in-universe physics debate. The top comment (433 likes) argues the whole cast was a decoy anyway, hidden inside Aizen's Kyoka Suigetsu illusion. From there, the thread works out its own lore explanation for the gold: the technique draws on spiritual particles from the land itself rather than the caster's own reiatsu, so its color has nothing to do with Aizen's signature purple. Then the thread pivots, and the target becomes overseas fans who reportedly complained about the color online — with Japanese commenters shrugging it off as a bizarre thing to get worked up about in the first place.

Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You Finale Trailer Drops — Japan Wants Season 2
The official finale trailer for Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You is out, and it's less a preview than a eulogy. Across 307 comments on the Asmik Ace channel, Japanese viewers aren't hyping the last episode so much as mourning that it's already here — the top comment (608 likes) opens with "ugh... the healing is about to end" before immediately demanding a second season. What follows is a genuinely charming flood of loyalty: fans promising to buy the manga and the Blu-rays specifically because that's what actually convinces a production committee to greenlight more episodes, alongside a running debate over why a show this loved isn't a bigger hit. By the time the thread gets to the jokes about outliving Sazae-san, nobody's really talking about the finale anymore.

One Piece Chapter 1193: Zoro's Haki Grind Has Japan Calling Him the Real Protagonist
One Piece Chapter 1193 has Zoro sparring with Somers, an immortal member of the Gods' Knights guarding Elbaf, purely to drill his Conqueror's Haki — because Somers can't actually die, Zoro gets to land the same attack over and over until it finally counts. Luffy, meanwhile, spends the chapter still stuck in his cartoonish "Nika" form, laughing his way through his own fight instead of driving it. Across 243 comments on a Japanese reaction video, the top comment (695 likes) skips the fight scene entirely and just names a winner in a different contest: right now, it says, Zoro feels like the real protagonist. Most of the thread agrees, though a smaller group pushes back — arguing that an opponent tough enough to survive but weak enough to lose on command is also just a suspiciously convenient plot device for a power-up arc. By the end, nobody's arguing Luffy should disappear. They're just not talking about him nearly as much as they're talking about Zoro.
