あんなに可愛い日常系アニメのくせに、冷戦ネタ・意に反して裏稼業をやらされる人間・人体実験・幼い子が親を失う、って一気に重くなるんだよな
for such a adorable slice of life anime, it really gets dark really soon with cold war stuffs, people being forced to take on shady jobs against their wills, human experiments and the losing parents for little kids.

ロイドの単独パートのシリアスさ、たまらんわ。ヨルさんの担当はだいたいコメディなのに、ロイドが一人になると作品のジャンルそのものが変わるんだよな
I love how intense Loid subplots are. Even Yor mostly gets comdey is hers but Loid when he is alone literally changes the genre of the show.

この過去編を観た後だと、第1話でロイドがアーニャの誘拐犯相手に『そもそも何のためにスパイになったのか』を思い返しながら戦う、あのシーン…刺さり方が全然違う。あのシーンは単体でも十分良いんだけど、彼が戦争で具体的に何を経験したかを知ると、衝撃が段違いになる
After watching this arc, that scene from episode 1 of Loid taking on Anya's kidnappers while reminding himself as to why he became a spy in the first place... It just hits different. The episode does a good job with that scene as is, but it's got so much more impact after learning about what he specifically went through with the war.

そもそも第1話で、ロイドは『アーニャの泣き声に耐えられないのは、怯えて泣いていた子供の頃の自分を思い出すからだ』ってハッキリ言ってたからな
Back in the very first episode of the series, Loid outright said that the reason he can't stand listening to Anya cry is because it reminds him of when he was the scared, crying child.

彼の本名っていつか判明するのかな。頭文字はLかRだと思うんだよ。日本語だとこの2つは同じ音だし、偽名を使うとき、自分がちゃんと反応できるように本名と同じ頭文字の名前を選ぶ人がいる。で、ロイドの偽名は全部LかRから始まってるんだよな
I wonder if we'll ever learn his real name. I'm sure it starts with either L or R, since they're the same letter/sound in Japanese, and when using an alias, some people pick a name that starts with the same letter as their real name to trick their own minds into responding to it better. And all of his fake names have started with either L or R.
