7月4日に第1・2話連続放送でスタートした『無職転生Ⅲ』。第1話「燃えよ狂犬」は、剣の聖地に乗り込んだエリスがジノ、さらに剣神ガル・ファリオンの娘ニナを叩きのめす“狂犬デビュー戦”になった。海外のコメント欄は、初撃で剣をへし折られた直後にためらいなく拳へ切り替えるエリスに大盛り上がり。ニナに渡された木剣に鉄芯が仕込まれていた“チート”の発覚で流れは『自業自得』一色になり、ロッキー風のボクシングミームが乱れ飛ぶ。敗者が失禁するほど容赦ない描写には『この汚さこそ無職転生』と作品論まで飛び出した。最後は、エリスの心中を代弁した一言で締まる。

あの剣は、エリスの態度と特別扱いが気に入らない他の指導者たちが渡したもの。とはいえニナも特別扱いされてた側だし、普通の木剣より重いって気づいた上で使ったんだから、ブチ切れられても妥当ではある
It was given to her by the other instructors who did not like Eris's attitude and special treatment she was getting. But still a fair crash out because Nina was given the special treatment too and even realized it was heavier than a standard wooden sword before hand but still went with it.

原作だと「ニナに剣を渡した奴は、師匠を侮辱したエリスを殺させたかった」って示唆がもっと強いらしい。つまりニナはチートしただけじゃなく、重傷を負わせる気満々だった。うん、自業自得だわ
I’ve read people saying in the light novel it was much more implied that the guy who gave Nina that sword wanted her to kill Eris for disrespecting their master. So not only did Nina cheat she meant to do grievous bodily harm at the least. So yes she deserved it.

エリスは試合が止められた後になって初めて、相手（ニナ）が“チート”武器を使ってたこと＝最初の打ち合いで自分の剣だけ折れた理由に気づいた。でも武器が折れた瞬間、ためらわず“予備”に切り替えてる。ゼロ躊躇。決闘者じゃなくて、戦士であり生存者のメンタリティだよ
Eris only figured out AFTER the match was halted that her opponent (Nina) had been using a "cheat" weapon, which was why Eris's sword had broken in that first clash. But rather than hesitate when her weapon was broken, Eris immediately switched to her "backup" option. Zero hesitation. The mentality of a survivor, a warrior, not a "duelist."

変に聞こえるかもだけど、無職転生の好きなところのひとつは一切忖度しないところ。ボコボコにされたキャラが失禁するところまで見せてくる。この暴力的な“汚さ”が作品にすごく効いてるんだ。言いにくいけど、このえげつないディテールこそが唯一無二で、リアルなんだよ
Nah, this might sound weird, but one of the things I love about mushoku tensei is that they don’t give a fuck, they show us characters pissing themselves when they get their ass kicked, it sorta makes the show feel dirtier in a violent way that really works well. It’s hard to say but those dirtier more iffy details are what makes it unique and feel real
