Gosh, this really felt like listening to a podcast with that feature that eliminates literally all of the pauses. No time to breathe, and remixing the intro scene felt pretty unnecessary. I hope they can slow down, because they're editing this thing into the grave right now. (Also, changing the Rina scene is heresy!)

90年代のJRPGってそこなんだよ。ある世代の男の子にとっては決定的な青春小説だったけど……その文脈の外だと、物語はまったく持ちこたえない。12歳でルカ・ブライトに世界をひっくり返された人にはめちゃくちゃ懐かしいだろうけど、『幻想水滸伝II』の出来事をあらすじでなぞったものが、もともとのファン以外を掴むとは本気で思えない。
That's the thing about 90's JRPGs. They were the defining young adult lit for a generation of boys... but outside of that context the stories don't hold up even a little bit. This show will be nostalgic as hell for anyone who's world was rocked by Luca Blight when they were 12, but I truly don't think a cliff notes summary of the events of Suikoden 2 is gonna grab anyone not already a fan.

Teary eyed while watching this. As a Suikoden fan since I was a kid I waited for the day that this will happened and now it's finally here.

Streaming of Suikoden: The Anime seem to have started in Southeast Asia through Ani-One Asia (Medialink) and in France, Poland and Germany (plus likely Austria) through Animation Digital Network (ADN).
一番の望みは、ジョウイ側の視点をちゃんと掘り下げてくれること。ゲームで唯一ちょっと足りなかった部分だから
My main hope is that they really flesh out Jowy’s perspective. That was the one aspect of the game that was a bit lacking.
テンポがかなり速かった。ゲームは一度もやったことないけど、キャラがいろんな出来事を急いで駆け抜けてく感じで、RTAを見てるみたいだった。50分もあったのに、それでも詰め込みすぎ。
That pacing was quite fast. I never played any of the games, but the characters being rushed through sp many things happening felt like a speedrun to me. Even at 50mins fpr the episode, so many things happened.

love to see all the Suikoden fans show up. We have been starved a long while, boys an girls -- hopefully with the resurgence we are seeing, we'll finally start eating good.
時系列を行ったり来たりさせたせいで余計ひどくなってるし、脚本もよくない。いかにもゲームのセリフって感じで、まあそれは分かるんだけどアニメだとよくない。説明ばっかりで筋が通ってない。子どもが優しく手当てされたと思ったら男たちに襲いかかって、牢屋に入れられて、ちょうど誰かと出会って洗濯をさせられるくらいの時間だけいて……。納得させてくれ……。 作画もいまいちで、自分が見た版は字幕のタイミングもずれてた…… 早めに切る。ゲームのファンなら付いていくんだろうけど、やってないから……続ける理由が感じられない。だんだん良くなって、ゲーム好きの人たちが今の自分よりは楽しめるといいね
The choice of switch back timeline makes this worse, writing feels bad too, very much game dialogue, which makes sense but is not good in an anime. So much exposition, so little logic, kid is gently healed, then he attack the guys, sent to jail just long enough to meet someone and be sent to do the laundry .... Make it make sense.... The animation is not great the subs badly timed on the version I watched... Dropping this early, I'd hang on if I was a fan of the game but since I did not play it... I am not feeling any reason to go on... I hope it gets a bit better as it goes and that the game enthusiast can enjoy it more than what I am now
マジか、作画がこんなに良いとは思わなかった。絶対見る。ゲームの感情の山場も細かいクセも、アニメの形で全部やってくれることを願う。楽しみ！！
Damn, i did not expect the animation level to be that good. Will definitely watch this one and I hope they could adapt all the emotional beats and the quirks of the game in the anime format. HYPE!!
自分は世代的にはドンピシャなんだけど、ゲームはやらない人間だから、懐かしさをおすそ分けしてもらえるか試してみたかった。でも自分には無理そう。 まあいいよ、全員を満足させる作品なんて無いし、全部の作品を好きになれる人もいないから
I am the right generation but not a gamer so I wanted to see if I could catch the nostalgia by proxy, but that's not gonna happen for me. It's ok no show can please everyone and no one can like every show

子どもの頃に原作をやってて、発表されてからずっと楽しみにしてた。この第1話は悪くなかった。『幻想水滸伝II』みたいな大作をアニメにするなら、展開が速くなったり詰められたりするのは当然だと思う。背景はすごくきれいだけど、キャラ自体はもう少し磨いてほしいかな（アイリはめちゃくちゃかわいかったけど！）。108星を全員出して声まで付けたら、本気で驚く。
Having played the original game as a kid, I've been very excited to watch this ever since it was announced. This opening episode was not bad, adapting a huge game like Suikoden II means things are probably gonna move fast or get condensed. The backgrounds look gorgeous but the characters themselves could use a bit more polish (Eliie looks damn cute though!). I'd be pretty amazed if they featured all 108 Stars and had voices for them.

これは複雑な気持ち。前半の時系列をばらした構成は好きだった。あの夜に何があったのかを少しずつ組み立てていけるから。主人公2人の関係も好き。ただ、トーンがあちこちに飛んでシリアスと軽いノリの間を激しく行き来するし、テンポはやっぱり変だし、敵役はちょっと安っぽいし、キャラにまだ深みがない。
Mixed feelings on this one. I liked the non-chronological structure of the first half, letting us slowly piece together the events of that night. I also like the relationship between the two main characters. However, the tone felt all over the place, flinging wildly between serious and lighthearted, the pacing felt really weird, the antagonists feel a bit cheesy, and none of the characters really have any depth to them yet.
