MIMA IS HERE! I was looking forward to seeing how the anime would adapt her introduction. I'd say it nailed that mix of dangerous and proud, as well as friendly and outgoing. A city girl from a wealthy family who is ready to gamble in more ways than one. Funny that Shizuku was the one blatantly cheating despite being a genuine miko with serious divine power. Why bet it all on "my gods are more pwoerful than yours" when you can move the pieces while nobody is watching? XD

Finally the blonde girl Mima makes her appearance, and like Shizuku, she too can use some form of spirit magic. Shizuku with the power move in kissing Tokiyuki (while he's sleeping) just to rattle Mima and defeat her in that board game. Despite losing the board game, Mima did show she's honourable in defeat by offering to show Tokiyuki and gang around Kyoto, and as a result ended up falling in love with Tokiyuki when Tokiyuki defended her from that drunk samurai. This could be a problem as Mima's dad seems like one of Takauji's most trusted advisors. Speaking of Takauji, WTF is that sickly orange goo he's drooling from his mouth into Kiyohara's mouth? Author really went hard into the Ashikaga Takauji = Literal Demon territory there.

Historical trivia: Basara is derived from the Sanskrit word Vajra, a legendary ritualistic tool in Hinduism and Buddhism that has the properties of a diamond and thunderbolt. As its tough like a diamond, the Vajra tool cuts through anything regardless of its property or status. Hence Basara as a fashion statement and way of life philosophy means anyone is free to express themselves as flamboyantly as possible regardless of social status. In short, the "spirit of freedom". Mima's father Sasaki Doyo was considered one of the proponents of the Basara aesthetic during that era. Doyo has passed on that fascination for all things Basara to his daughter as well.

Another possible explanation: Kuchikamizake, a type of sake produced by a process involving chewing on rice and using human saliva as a fermentation starter, featured in certain Shinto rituals and performed by shrine maidens. (For anyone whose seen Your Name, this may ring a bell) Kuchikamizake created by such people are said to be sacred and hold their spirit/life force, and in turn a connection to the Kami. Given how this story is building up Takauji to be god-like, the story may be suggesting that he's, um... imparting his spirit by this method. That's our madman author for you.
